The WII is basically the gamecube in a different container, the specs are almost identical, the only main difference is the controller, not much more to say, i dont no much about the internet other than u can play the old games

The ps3 is easily the most technological of the 3 sp probably best graphics, running speed,etc...,but at the same time the most expensive, not much is known of the internet

the xbox360 has been out for awhile, good overal system and has a number of good games coming out this season to injure the WII and ps3's release date, also on internet still the best

The Wii is, in fact, more powerful than the gamecube by a decent amount. It may not contain a graphical increase as dramatic as say the PS2 to the PS3, but you will find (especially in later games) that the games being created look quite a deal better. The big kick, as you mentioned, is the new controller.

everything ive read(3 or 4 sites) have said there is not a sufficient increase in tech to consider it next gen, the big reason it is however is that the controller is a new concept, and also the graphics are affected be the games at the same time......by the way anyone have that foam controller for the ps2? i wana no itf it is worth buying

Since there is some confusion over the online capabilities of the Wii and PS3, both have free browsers that allow you to surf the internet. The Wii has Opera, which will be free to download for the first 6 months. The PS3 has a custom made browser that utilizes the motion sensors on the controller, but since it supports Linux you will also be able to download firefox or whatever browser you want. Also the PS3 will support any USB mouse and keyboard.

For online gaming, the Wii is supposed to have a very sophisticated setup where your system is constantly connected to the internet even when it's "off". Plus it has built in WiFi. Not all of the details are known.

The PS3 has online gaming capabilities that, on paper, seem to be better than Xbox Live and all the services are free right off the bat. Only certain 3rd party game developers will require monthly fees (from them, not Sony), like MMORPGs but the majority is gonna be free.

I tried to be very careful with my words, sorry. As I said, the graphical increase is nowhere near as dramatic as the PS2 to the PS3, or the X-Box to the 360. If you consider anything graphically inferior to this to not have "next gen" graphics, then yes - the Wii falls into this category. I simply stated that the Wii is indeed more powerful than the GameCube. It may not be by a vast amount, but there is definitely improvement. Just give the console some time, and you'll see developers popping out some very nice looking games.
