MS Paint works fine, you just need another program to make it transparent.
There is a free program called GIMP that I used to use all the time and is relatively easy to use.

Ack. I am SO sorry but I posted in an act of bubbleheadedness; it's not GIMP, it is GiFFY. http://www.brothersoft.com/giffy-16084.html

To make an image transparent in GiFFY:
-Open Paint (or whichever program), fill in all of the pixels of the image that you want to be transparent with a color that is NOT used anywhere in the image itself.
-Save the file as either a .GIF or .BMP (Saving as .BMP first tends to give you better quality though), then open GiFFY.
-Click "Load (GIF/BMP)" and select your file.
-In the bottom, left-hand section of the window, there should be two selectable boxes, "Transparent" and "Interlaced". Click the box next to "Transparent" and it should automatically select the predominant color in the image. If it doesn't choose the color you want, just click the image where that color is and it will choose that instead.
-Now press "Save GIF" and your image should be transparent!

Again though, I am so, so sorry about giving you the wrong program before! I really don't know what I was thinking...

Very easily. XD With Paint (or whichever program), use the Paint Bucket tool and select a color not in the image. Then click in the white area round it~

You could, however we also can't accept pixelated items, so you'd have to go through further steps to feather the lines(as well as shading), but in a way so that it is not blurry either...

Oops. I was actually meaning for transparency, as some version of MS Paint have that capability. Sorry for the confusion xD;

About the pixelated items rule... I swear I've seen some items that are pixelated? Image

You should report any items that look too jagged and pixelated as well.

My brains hurt... xD

I think you all should use Adobe, it's so easy to do something there~ =D

One Q: Can you do levels in GIMP and Giffy, too?
I mean: You can load the pic in Adobe, then make a level, draw the item, and delete the pic with the body on...
So you have only the item without background~ ( = ^ _ ° = ) ~

Hmm... then save the body from the avi you want to make an item for.
I'll try to explain it uncomplicated and only that, you need to know, 'kay? =D
(btw, is it the 7.0 version of Adobe?)

Huh? Isn't CS a new version? I've got CS3 and that's a new version, newer than 7.0... (O.O)
Ok, never mind that. It's Adobe after all, so the buttons and such must be the same in a way...
So, let's get started, 'kay?
