americans are ok..

yeah, some tends to be racist...

and some thinks so highly of themselves, living in a first world country and all that..

but well, they're ok i guess..

i mean, its not only americans who are racist..

but really, americans tends to be racist but the truth is they do not know where they originally come from. they say that they live in america and that black people should go back to africa and asians to asia.. but here's the thing, americans (white) do not come from america, because it was the native american (the one with red skin or brownish skin) that lives originally in america.. so they really don't have the right to be racist..

racits? wow! where in the world is there really equality? everything is quite unfair in this world. racism exists in the entire world not just one place called america so why point it out like that? infact even with all the ugliness thats in the world, i think life is really fair and there is a lot of oppurtunity in america. isnt that why people from all over the world strive to come here and settle with families. im proud to be from nepal, thats where i was born, but since my family migrated to us when i was little and i have visited my country few times, i realise how hard it is to live elsewhere where they dont treat girls equally. they dont treat rich and poor equally and there is so much corruption in that world. im not generalizing. i havent seen the world but im talking about nepal, the country i do know of. even though a lot of things i love and respect about the country, im glad now i live in the states, a place where people (at least by the law) are equal.. being a double minority .. a female and a south asian.. life has been much easier here so i have only things to be thankful for and can only hope the few that give this country a bad name like our previous president, with him gone and with the new hope, there will be even more positive changes.

from what i can see, racism happens everywhere.
just like cats and dogs, once a person see another person who's different from them, they mark them different
so most of the time, the question in a person's mind is, "Are you one of us?"

to be honest i was annoyed of chinese people, cause when they speak at the bus they are so loud
but then after learning the language, i don't find them loud anymore and yeah i watch chinese dramas now

I think the biggest reason americans are seen the way they are is not coz they mean anything bad but coz of their ignorance. even i think thats true. because they don't know wat's goin on in the world, they're not well informed. their world only exists in this country and most of them live their entire lives without stepping outside of the country even once so its hard for them to understand what others go through. even though its not an excuse for bad behavior but i think its one explanation for it.

Dude Im american and I totally agree with you, I have tons of asian friends and I can say that most of them are a whole lot more intellectual and smarter than I am. And I agree that americans do act like asians are dumber than them some of the time. Really I think asians in general (korean, japanese, chinese, Taiwanese, indian..etc) I think they are all cool, and most of them can be some of the best friends ever. And all the tests going on in the world, asians are way ahead of americans

I kinda disagree. I think asians are effective and brilliant in some fields but americans are also brilliant in others like in creative world just compare hollywood and asian cinema. but thats just one example. i just think coz asian upbringing is strict, theyre more disciplined, its just a matter of wat values the parents give to their children. i went to school here in US and some asians were smart some americans were smarter, its an individual thing here, its such a mixed culture now cant even generalize anymore. thats just my opinion though!

I had an Asian guy, can't remember his nationality, in one of my college math classes who everyone thought was really smart. I worked together with him one day for some group work (yes, you still do group work in college) and he was just like everyone else, confused, lol! I started to crack up, because I knew everyone in the class thought he got nothing but A's. I knew he didn't because I sat right behind him. I think that the stereotypes of Asians being smart can be good, but also hurtful. I've seen people "befriend" Asians all through school just because they thought they could use them to get good grades. However, its good, because when you go out looking for jobs and things like that, sometimes that will get you hired. Its all in how you use the stereotype.

this stereotype is quite common. when i went to school my teachers automatically assumed i was a good student coz i was asian but i eventually disappointed them coz i was only quite average (when it came to academics)

I would say that i think that Americans have a rather bad culture...for eg. pre marital sex, pornography, smoking, drugs etc...
It's just kinda disappointing to see that many claim to be christians but they fail to live it out.

I am American born on american soil but my folks are latinos. I was born in USVI which belongs to US hence the United States Virgin Islands. When I first came to the mainland (usa), I went to New York. People from my hometown told me that New Yorkers are rude and what not but when I went there not once I met a rude person. Heck one time I was knock down and the guy I actually stop and said sorry. It was totally different to what my hometown said it was going to be.

Now I am living at mainland, I meeting many different ppl, like now, my roommates are latina, korean, and black. I hit it off with all of them. I talk to them and thier friends. They introduce to me some of their culture and I do the same for them. My korean roommate loves trying spanish food and when she cooks, she makes some korean food for me too. We talk about asian drama and culture and she tells me how she likes it here in America and how much she likes our culture.

What I am trying to say here is that even though you have met several people who are not so nice and they all from the same ethnicity doesn't mean that all those people from a certain race/ethnicity all alike. Dont prejudge, open the book first.

Its not just american people that are racist to asians but trust me, i live in England and i still get people coming up to me and saying ...
.."go back to your own country!"
I say "I am idiot! I was born here!!"
So they are the ones looking stupid. I guess its just white people everywhere that are racist.
Also white guys don't find asian people attractive unless they're a 50 year old, unmarried perv (well, in my view), you'll find the odd guy who likes you but not alot.
I'm not american but i thought i'd add my opinion.

OK I guess I have to agree with you its true that there are some brilliant americans, and I guess I kind of stereotyping asians, and americans. But if I think you are saying that hollywood is better than asian cinema, I'm not sure I agree, I mean it is your opinion though, so Im not trying to get in your face. But Hollywood seems to be just taking other people's writings and movies and just changing them up and making them over again. Yes they have come out with some good stuff, and asia's cinema is starting to do the same. But it does seem that hollywood doesn't really have any original ideas. I think you are actually right I was grouping together everyone. And it is a mixed culture, and everyone is different. And yes I can't generalize either, and your opnion is right I would say, but thats just my opinion

I'm American and I sadly agree with what a lot of people have said on here. I was lucky enough to have a dad who travels around the world for his job so I've always been interested in the cultures of other countries. It has also made me realize that America really has no culture of its own and I really hate that. I also agree with what people have said about the ego American's have. I hate the mentality around here that because we speak english, everyone else should speak english and very few here actually try to learn another country's language. But there are plenty of people here who are not racist and it's just really upsetting for me that those that are have ruined the country's image for the rest of us.

I hope this does not offend you but i think learning english while living here to me is a sign of respect for our language and culture. When i went to Japan i learned the language out of respect . I did not go there wanting other people to bend to me and my language. To go to other country and not learn the language is disrespectful.

I think what she meant what that americans think everybody should speak english, as in superiority. It's true that americans aren't really interested in other countries, and come to knowing another language, they're not really good compare to some other countries. But you're right though, learning the language and the culture is important. Moving to another country is basically this, or else it's not really fun to be in another country and not learn the language, it's like a waste

sorry sorry i was in the middle of doing something else when i misunderstood what she was trying to say. That's what you get for speeding through..lol oh well

For me I think that asians...mainly japanese and koreans love americans more towards the white ones.
why? im speaking of appearance though.
many want to get the western look with there eyes and skin etcc..so asians like americans.
in terms of the racism and stuff i dunno cause i only know what i think.
this might be better if people from the actual asian country post it but sadly they cant xD
