I was reading a news article that had a man who faked his death in Canada to get away from all the tax money he owed. He actually planned it well because he had put a fake suicide note in his car trunk stating that he was really depressed and jumped off the river while the rescue team tried finding his body for days and 2 years later he was caught and is now waiting for his court trial because of his foolish act and just to get away from the money he owed. ($65,000)

Me? I would never fake my own death, I would like the people I know that I've died peacefully. However, if you think about it, faking your death would mean that your life would start over and you would completely be alone without your family.

What are your thoughts?

I also heard a news report about a man who faked his death, about boating or something. Anyway, his wife collected all the money that she's being given, but some people saw a picture of them together recently. An d he got busted.

In this society, it would be extremely hard to disappear. Think about the movie "Double Jeopardy." Eventually you'll be found out. But if this were, say, the early 1800's, I wouldn't mind escaping several of the problems of the time and starting over somewhere new. A lot of people did, including many of the United States of America's forefathers (and foremothers). Sometimes there are instances where you just have to get away from your life. Why do you think we're so obsessed with anime and books and video games?

I guess I'd fake my death to get away from people who are trying to fucking kill à la Spike Spiegel. Then come back and own the shit out of all of them.
