It's really a stupid case if you choose to live your life because of Anime.

sry what wrong with that
i work so i can watch anime
i eat so i can watch anime
i drink so i can watch anime
i sleep so i can watch anime
and so on
its all because of animes

What's wrong with that?
Well, couldn't you live for your family, or your dreams?
Can't you live because you want to succeed?

Anyway, if you still stick to your answer,
I guess I have no point to argue.

maybe because the art is so good and the script [personality, dialogue etc] of the anime character is well made that they can't seem to have enough of those anime characters.

Gee, i seez nothin wrong with it, like sum ppl say/agree here, it is healthy to stay happy. It's also a matter of preference. Anime characters are just about almost perfect and dats why ppl like em. I myself get obsessed with anime characters cuz i wish they really existed. But then again, life can't be perfect or it'd be BOORRINNGG~~!!!! TAT

One more thing I read online about the true meaning of flaming and I have no idea where my opinion was flaming at all I said my peace and rebuttaled with a question of my own that has nothing to do with flaming.

"is the hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users. Flaming usually occurs in the social context of a discussion board, Internet Relay Chat (IRC) or even through e-mail. An Internet user typically generates a flame response to other posts or users posting on a site, and such a response is usually not constructive, does not clarify a discussion, and does not persuade others. Sometimes, flamers attempt to assert their authority, or establish a position of superiority over other users. Other times, a flamer is simply an individual who believes he or she carries the only valid opinion. This leads him or her to personally attack those who disagree. In some cases, flamers wish to upset and offend other members of the forum, in which case they can be called "trolls". Most often however, flames are angry or insulting messages transmitted by people who have strong feelings about a subject."

Hahaha. Maybe because life is so boring they need to rely on anime/drama for some entertainment. Cos what you see in anime doesn't happen in real. So it's interesting. Plus they're beautiful art. Just like ppl who loves reading? I think it's more of a hobby. & going "OMG HE'S/SHE'S SO HOT" & discussing about the plot is just fun!! As long as they dont go overboard such as making a gown to marry their anime character in their dream...

em..can i voice out?

I like anime, coz well, they let me see wat's missing in my life, since anime is so perfect, you can have like the perfect lover or might as well perfect life in that particular anime, makes me so envy of them, and well, i do enjoy watching anime, as a hobby, and i do admit i have my own obsession, erm, like towards Sasuke, Hyuuga Natsume...so on and so fort, and it's also quite fun to enjoy the comedy that the producer, artist, and other ppl's production. =D well, i'm going off topic..

Obsession towards anime is kinda like, hmm, interest, and i do know that people realise that it's not true.
Addiction is what motivate us to read/watch that anime/manga.

Anime do make the world go round in someway.

Oh? to those people who said otaku have no life. I should say, go to hell.
Otaku are like, shopaholic, except they're living on anime. They do have a life, and they adore anime to bits, that's wat made them otaku, a special name, so dun say it like it's some germ...
Otaku is like NERDS...nerd = book, otaku = anime, same thing, so dun go simply say it like some insult.

Well i think i gone too far, for those whom i have offended please do forgive.

some characters can act as inpirational figures, no different from 'idols'- maybe no different from wanting to be the next Obama, Einstein or um Stephen King... obsession or idolisation can actually be for the best if we use it for our own long term benefit ... like who doesn't want to be as scheming and sly as yagami light or L? For some, they may be actively learning to be more determined to face everyday challenges from characters like Bleach's Ichigo or Naruto (basically any chars who don't don't give up easily). Many more characters out there give different messages, and I think 'obsession' might be nothing more than idolising someone who has spurred you to change your life for the better.

then again, whatever we choose to pick up from anime obviously relies on the individual him/herself. There are people who just choose to obsess over chars just because they... 'look good'. From that, maybe what they'll learn is how to look as good, or to hunt for a partner who looks marginally 'as good'. Not much development there- but yes, no different from little girls wanting to look like britney spears.

Well, some girls "fangirl", it's not exactly an obsession, but these type of people have a particular liking for this character (and yes, in some cases fan-girls are completed obsessed with the character)
Sure, I fantasize if I write fan-fics (you pretty much have to), but I don't dream about being married or dating the character; that's just plain scary...
