It's because you are really hurt in what just had happened but after a few months when all the pain subside.. you can now face your ex and say.. "It's your lost not mine!".. joke! hehe! I think if your ex didn't clear things to you.. you will really feel bitter..

It depends. If you broke up because your partner has cheated on you, then I would never bother to make contact again. If the breakup is just a matter of not loving someone anymore, then I would stay friends.

depends on why you broke up.. one of my ex is still a good friend. but the other one, i offered friendship but he just really cant get over me!! (now i have to change number!) kiddin! we still clash as friends so as not to ruin the memory of the relationship, better to just not talk with each other.. but i know he still have hd (hidden desire) for me!! lolz jkjkjk

That's not true.
I know a couple my age who broke up. But they are the best of friends and always act a little too close for comfort taht it disgusts me. Come on..we are 13 year olds..don't call ur ex bf honey

Well, I guess it's because when you guys are gf/bf. You feel entrusting to your bf/gf. When that bond breaks, you feel like that the other person is a bastard. But some people still talk to their ex's.

"Hey, i'm sorry we've been dating for years and years and i'm leaving you and giving you a BS reason. Not only am I leaving, i'm crushing your heart as I walk out on you but can we still be friends?"

Just because you can so easily break it off and feel no hurt whatsoever, doesn't mean the other feels the same. Love hurts. May as well ask someone who just stabbed you in the heart with a rusted butter knife to be your friend because that totally makes sense.

But we're human. Some can overlook it and choose the nonsensical path but i'm sure the majority would like some space between the person they once held dear.
