Oh, I can understand why you say that. However, that won't stop others from comparing bands. There are people who continue to study music and its influence on other people and other music. Some of those people will even make lists on what's the best on their magazines. All that work is what led to Nirvana's

Having said that, I really do think anyone can like whatever they want. They should too. They should also be ready to give a good reason because that would be a huge letdown to humanity if they didn't.
One reason for having said that, a baby will always like what's shiny and fun. That same baby will also get pretty cranky if its rattle or whatever gets replaced by something that just doesn't look as fun. What sucks is that that something can be a rough diamond. The reason the baby doesn't go for it isn't because it's dumb. It just doesn't know the value of it yet. It takes effort and time to discover something brilliant sometimes. For that, we shouldn't be lazy with our art.
