I wanted to know if young black men are becoming their stereotype because their arent many good black male role models in the media, like 50 cent, also another reason i thought that they might becoming their stereotype is because the media usually shows black people in a negative way and if they see this does it make them think "well if everyone else is doing this.."

And i am talking the majority not minority. Also i am not trying to be rude, this subject has always been in my mind because my own brother has become that negative black stereotype.

you answered your own question

are all young Italian men becoming stereotypes because of pacino and deniro?

think this one through before you make a thread about it

it's not that they are trying to be the stereotypical black person, it is usuall how they are raised and were they are from, if the parents dont care enough for their kids an let them hang around people who do bad things then they will become a stereotype,

the adults of a community have the power to clean up their neighbohood, but they are too scarred of the young men who are the ones causing trouble, or they just don't care as long as they are left alone,

i myself am a product of my inviroment, i was a white boy who went to schools were i was the minority, so i had to adapt to it, and i did, but i never hung out with people that would get me to do bad things, but i do enjoy rap music from the days i was a kid, and i was raised by a woman who would have flogged me if i ever showed the least bit of racism, i accept people for who they are, not by the color of skin, but by the actions they take

if you act like a person i dont like then i wont consider talking to you, it has nothing to do with race,

yeah i never really understood why a race would want to try and emulate the worst most craptastic parts of there culture and try to pull it off as cool.

One would figure after seeing and hearing about all the bad stuff one would want to steer away from that and try to become somthing better / more positive. an asset to the collective as it were. Not a drain.

people that think all that gansta ghetto stuff is cool is just extremly ignorant or just plain stupid.

and as for that positive role model crap. Just cuz there isint many positive black role models to choose from dosent mean that they get to choose some ass hole by default to act like.

well our generation is still affected by racism and violence like that one incident in LA (omg i forgot that important incident i should shoot myself in the head) that happened in the 90's...but now racism towards blacks are slowly dying away and blacks will have equal opportunity so hopeuflly by next generation the black population will be more decent and that stereotype will be gone

I guess it comes down to what the media show the public. Since the media doesn't really highlight on black role models, the youth don't really have any one to look up to. They like to show the chaotic/run down side of black culture and that effects the way how most peeps grow. I wouldn't say all are becoming a stereotype.
