Oh yeah, why do I always get the feeling that Takumi is going to have sex with Reira everytime he comforts her? He makes me so paranoid, when it comes to Reira...not a nice feeling.

Ya i know what you mean, i hate that he comforted Reira in this chapter that really disturbed me I kno that the whole group is extremely broken right now but my goodness even Nobou is comforting Hachi more than Takumi!!! and in the beginning of this chapter im curious read the timeskip, i really want to no what made little satsuki worried, im sure it probably had something to do with Takumi

thanks!! and here's a summary of the entire chapter provided by the blakcstones group on livejournal

Summary By Meimi (nyoyo)

Opens on a view of the ocean with snow falling softly. The color spread is of the beach with Hachi, Satsuki, Yasu, and someone in purple kimono whose face is hidden. Hachi and Satsuki are building a mound in the sand.

The chapter opens on the same scene. Yasu takes out a Seven Stars cigarette, lights it, and places it in the sand mound with three other sticks of incense everyone else has placed there, along with flowers. Hachi is praying. Satsuki looks over at the fourth person, revealed to be Miu with her hair cut short, also praying. Satsuki starts praying too, and Yasu smiles watching her, lighting his own cigarette.

Snow keeps falling over the beach quietly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cut to the four at Nobu's ryokan, where they are staying. He welcomes them like regular customers, and everyone else cracks up at his professional act.

Cut to later that night, all of them in their room wearing yukata, playing mahjong. Hachi kicks everyone else's asses, and everyone else gapes when she wins.

Hachi says, "I'm super lucky today! I wonder if it's because I prayed to Ren that I'd win the mahjong tournment!"

Nobu shrieks, "Don't pray for stupid crap like that!" as Hachi gazes dreamily off into space thanking Ren.

Satsuki whines and asks why Shin-chan couldn't come, and Hachi says she's asked this a million times already, and reminds her that Shin couldn't get off work. Satsuki complains that her school said it was fine for her to miss class if it was for a grave visit, and Yasu was able to take off work, so why couldn't Shin-chan too? Yasu tells her, "Shin isn't doing a job that can be covered for by other people. Even if he has a fever, he can't miss work."

Satsuki perks up at this and asks, "Is that also why Papa can't come home much?" Nobu is pouring sake for Hachi, and she looks unsettled as Satsuki asks.

Yasu answers that Takumi is a workaholic who won't allow other people to do any work he can do himself, which Satsuki looks puzzled at, and Yasu adds, "But Taskumi is doing his best and toughing it out, even though he's lonely since he can't see you. You need to tough it out too."

Hachi and Nobu are silent, not looking at each other.

Satsuki says, "I know. That's why Oniichan is with Papa, right? So Papa won't be lonely." Hachi is silent, looking unhappy, and Satsuki adds hurriedly, "But Mama, you've got me, so you'll be okay too, right?" Hachi smiles at her in response, a little painfully.

Cut to later, Satsuki falling asleep to the side of everyone else as Hachi tucks her in. Nobu comments that kids say such grown-up things at times and it's surprising, and Miu answers that kids are paying attention to what's around them a lot more than adults think.

Yasu notes she may not understand what a grave visit means, and Miu retorts that what they do is hardly a traditional grave visit anyway. Yasu smiles, "I wonder what she prayed for, facing the ocean today."

Hachi looks pained, and thinks, "I know what she prayed for. 'Please let all four of us live together as a happy family.' But even if you pray to Ren for that, it's not something he can make come true. It's something that has to come from me."

As she thinks this, Nobu is silent and loooking unhappy.

Miu asks the time, and Yasu smiles that it's almost midnight. Nobu whips out his guitar: "Okay! Let's do it again this year!" Miu scolds him, "Not the guitar! Satsuki-chan's asleep!" but Hachi smiles, "It's okay. Because the sound of a guitar is a lullaby to Satsuki."

Yasu points out they'll be bothering the other customers with the noise, and Nobu chirps, "Who cares, it's my ryokan!" Miu mutters, "It's gonna get driven into the ground under your watch, isn't it?" and Hachi bursts out laughing.

Miu smiles, "It would be nice if next year you can be singing it in front of Nana-chan."

The other three just sort of smile at her sadly in response, with the impression that she says the same thing every year. We see a photograph of Ren with another cigarette burning in place of the incense in front of it.

Hachi thinks: "Every year, on March fourth, I face the ocean as snow falls down on us, and I pray the same thing..."

Hachi looks at her watch. "Ten seconds...five...four...three..."

Nobu grins, "OK, one, two..." and then begins to play as everyone sings, "Happy birthday to you..."

"'Please, Ren. Don't take Nana away from me. Don't keep her trapped inside that night forever.'"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cut back to the past: the exact same room, with Hachi looking at the clock display on her phone hitting midnight. Nobu is curled up alone, Miu is silent, and Hachi and Shin are blank and slumped against each other.

"Why is time passing so slowly? I don't know how to wait for morning to come. I can't send a birthday mail to Nana. There's no way I could say this birthday is happy."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cut to Osaka. Yasu smokes. Nana is seated on the couch, silent and staring blankly ahead, with Miyako next to her crying. Nana's manager (can't remember his name) jumps up and suggests they get in the car and go. Miyako says if they go by car it'll take longer than waiting for the first train, but he says it's better to be doing something than just waiting around there.

Yasu asks, "Nana. What do you want to do? Would you rather go by car, or wait for the first train out?"

Nana gazes at him blankly, and then pulls out a cigarette cooly. "But...I have work tomorrow."

Miyako and the manager look horrified, and tell her of course she can miss it, but Nana says cooly, "But it's an important opportunity for me."

Miyako and the manager both stare at her in shock, neither one able to deal with her cool reaction, and both turn away, leaving her to Yasu. Yasu looks her in the eye and says firmly, "Nana. You need to go say goodbye to Ren. It's over."

Nana stares at him in shock, remembering: running away from Ren as he said, "I'm going to Tokyo." Him holding her the first time the reunited. "I missed you." Him walking away: "Buy Jump every week, okay?" Ren looking back at her over his shoulder, smiling.

She steadies her hands on her lap, with a closeup on her ring, as it sinks in that he's gone, and she just...breaks. It looks like her world just shatters.

Yasu quickly stubs out his cigarette and says decisively, "Let's get in the car. We can make it to Nagoya by morning, and then we'll take the train from there."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cut back to the ryokan. Miu approaches Hachi, saying, "Nana-chan, it's not good for the baby for you to be sitting here in the cold. Let's go take a bath together?" Nobu glances over as Hachi shakes her head, still crying, but Nobu touches her on the shoulder and says, "Nana, go with her and warm up. Please?"

Shin glances up for the first time, and Hachi nods, sniffling.

Cut to Miu and Hachi in the bath. Miu notes that she thought Nobu was undependable, but he's got it together. Hachi smiles fondly and says, "He's kind, but that doesn't make him undependable." Miu comments, "He calls you Nana. I didn't know that."

Hachi blushes and says he usually calls her Hachi, it was just when they were dating that he called her Nana. Miu asks, "Can I ask? There's no chance that Nobu is the baby's father, is there?"

Hachi goes blank and sad, and then shuts her eyes and smiles calmly, "No chance. The baby belongs to Takumi and me. We decided that together." Then, thinks, "We decided that, ignoring all of Nobu's feelings....."

Miu apologizes for asking, and Hachi asks if she can ask Miu a question too. "Did you do it to yourself?"

"Huh?"

"Your wrists..."

Miu looks uncomfortable and admits she did. Hachi looks upset and asks, "Why...?"

"It's okay. It's not that I want to die or anything. They're all shallow cuts. It's like a habit."

"But if you made one mistake..."

"Yeah. That's true. But I don't think Ren was doing drugs because he wanted to die either."

Hachi looks heartbroken, remembering Ren telling her, "It'll be okay." And then Nobu telling her it wasn't her fault. She says tearfully, "I was happy Nobu said it wasn't my fault, but I think I'm going to regret that I didn't stop him for the rest of my life. I never asked him why he was hurting himself that way. I never even asked."

Miu answers, "Even if you'd asked him, he couldn't have answered you. You don't understand yourself why you're doing it, so you can't do anything about it. And when you figure it out, it can be too late..... But, I won't do it anymore. Because it would make Yasu sad. I thought, 'No matter what sad things happen to me from now on, I definitely don't want to do anything that will make Yasu sad.'"

Hachi looks affected by this, and thinks: "The darkness won't let up. It keeps breaking over me like waves. Over and over, it feels like I'm going to get dragged down by the current...."

Back in the room, Shin looks out the window. It has a view of the ocean, and it's snowing. He looks up into the sky.

"But because the other people who have been left behind are so important to me..."

Cut to Reira in another room, crying on the floor with a blanket over her as Naoki watches her.

"I definitely can't lose to it."

A knock sounds at the door. Naoki throws the door open in relief, smiling, "Welcome back!" Takumi enters and quietly says, "Reira..."

She looks up at him, eyes filled with tears, and she cries, "I'm so sorry......" Takumi holds her tightly as Naoki looks on silently.

"Hey, Nana..."

Back in Osaka, instead of snow, rain is falling on the highway. Misato and Nana's manager sit up front. Nana is huddled against Yasu's side, his arm wrapped around her shoulder as he smokes.

The last frame is a closeup of Nana's eyes, looking blank, filled with tears that don't fall.

"Nana, please, don't lose to it either."

did anybody notice wat i put in RED lol i dunno maybe its jus wishful thinking but i think there is a possibility that nobou could be the father of one of Hachi's kids! well i hope and even if they are twins its possible to have two different fathers, and hachi doesn't kno for sure she only said that the baby belongs to her and takumi and that THEY decided that together

After reading the spoilers, checking out the scans, and remembering the past chapters (w/ the flashforwards), I feel like Hachi just might end up with Nobu. Now, I have always been a Takumi fan (and I want Hachi to end up with him), but considering all the shit that Hachi and Takumi has been through...it seems kind of impossible.

I'm beginning to really love Nobu (I always adored him), especially with the flash forwards and the way he treats hachi. He's really sweet and comforting towards Hachi. I know that Takumi cares a lot about hachi too and he makes a great father, but I have a feeling that hachi and takumi are just going to end up as one of those bittersweet couples: That they'll always love and care for each other, but their personalities are too different to the point that they can't really comfort each other in the way they want (remember the movie, the way we were with barbra streisand and robert redford?).

I want takumi to be the biological father of the kids (i'm assuming that they are twins @ the moment). And it seems very likely that he is, b/c he looks like satsuki. and takumi never used a condom (shame on him). But mangas are pretty crazy, and there's a slight chance that nobu can be the dad.

ultimately, i want takumi and hachi to live happily ever after but i'm having my doubts at the moment (and this manga is not about happy endings). i think nobu would make a perfect husband for hachi. i think they would both be happy, living in nobu's hotel. after all, hachi's dream was to be with her loved one and have a family/home with that significant other.

And I'm really loving nobu at the moment (come one Takumi...redeem yourself in the flashforwards!!).

I think Takumi and Hachi r still married in the future, b/c of the kids and they both really do love each other. But they feel pretty depressed about their living situations. But like Reira said, it takes more than love to keep a relationship, there should also be trust. And I'm not sure, if Hachi is really willing to live in England b/c she doesn't know English, Japan is her home, and that's where Satsuki has been raised during this whole time.

But I feel like hachi is gonna end up with nobu in the end of the series...i'm happy but at the same time i want takumi to be with hachi.

why do both Nobu and Hachi look sad when someone mention Takumi??? Dis they do sth guilty towards him??? lol kidding. I think the chance that Hachi cheats on Takumi is quite small. But hey, that reminds me, Ai YAzawa is more realistic rather than what we are supposed to do, so when Takumi is acting like a brat ( I have the feeling he won't be there when Hachi giving birth but instead staying with...well. you know who) Nobu is there for Hachi, kind and reliable ( what he lacked of before) so why not? ^^ But Satsuki chan loves her daddy a lot and respect Nobu, just can imagine one day Hachi ask her to call Nobu "daddy" poor little children, they suffer the most when adults divorce, don't they

@mimo310 i was thinkin the samething they did look really uncomfortable when Yasu said he wonders what Satsuki wished for and then nobou and Satsuki were shown

So i think that Nobou isn;t completely out of the picture yet, although some of us may think that *cough cough* Kyoko19 lawl!! but if im wrong oh well. But if Nobou is a father to one of the twins then I don't think Hachi would exclude him from their little family no matter what her and Takumi decided. And this is a Manga so maybe Yazawa-san might throw in a few twists, there could of been that one time where Nobou forgot to use a condom or maybe it burst or w/e happened. But when it comes to the children i don't want them to be seperated because it would suck for the kids, so i would prefer if Takumi was the father of Hachi's kids. But the only logical explanation i can think of now for the seperation of the kids and lil Ren not really wanting to visit or to go back to japan is that the oldest boy Ren is nobou's son but because Takumi and Hachi decided to take care of the child regardless if it was his or nobou's he wants to keep him so probably lil ren knows who his real papa is but doesn't want to be separated from Takumi because maybe Takumi was the one who fathered him. and lil Ren does seem very protective of his father can't remember which chappie it was wen Naoki went to visit them.

Also lil Ren and Satsuki are fraternal twins so its possible to have seperate fathers and besides Satsuki looks just like Takumi so there's jus no way she's Nobou's. So again maybe Hachi wants Nobou to be apart of lil Ren's life and because Nobou lives in Japan maybe that's why she decided to stay hoping that lil Ren may change his mind, and at least visit. Reira and Takumi's affair maybe a lil bit of the reason why she doesn't want to go back to Takumi(as well as NANA is there also so maybe shes hopin she will come to japan so she's waiting for her there plus her job and satsuki's school) but Hachi seems a bit too mature in the timeskip to let that affair interfere with her childrens happiness. so here's my Theory/wishful thinking

I'm still convinced that little Ren is Nobu's son, but I guess we'll never know for sure since Hachi flat out says that it's impossible since she and Takumi decided that it was going to be his. I think she took Junko's advice to heart when she told her that she was going to have to decide between the two and stick with it, so I don't think she leaves Takumi, but I do think she regrets her decision.

It's so depressing now, even more so now that I think the story is close to ending.
