I somehow feel so pissed when I see this.
Duh Asia is like Americanized. We listen to as much American music as you do.

Mmmmm.... I think it mostly depends on how much they are influenced by the english music culture.
In M'sia here, the teenagers do listen to Jonas brothers & Disney related music like HSM.
They also know who Leona Lewis & Katy Perry & the Tings- Tings are.
This is because we have Channel V, MTV from Astro (its a Pay per view satellite television network station) almost every family has one and also the fact that english is the second language after Bahasa Malaysia.
Also we listen to Kpop, Jpop largely due to the fact that we watch Kdrama & Jdramas.
Basically I think the younger generation here listens to a wide range of music in different languages but whether they understand the lyrics is another thing.

Let me tell you a fact only people my age know. They love listening to DISNEY RUBBISH only when they r my age. But there are very few who actually listen to real music not music from the garbage can.

um im pretty sure there are ppl in asia who listen to our celebs/musicians over here... my cousin from taiwan came over and he knew like all the linkin park and nickelback songs ~ he was obsessed - o yeah and there's also a video on youtube where yunho from dbsk is dancing to Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake; also, if u listened carefully during the beijing olympics they were playing songs from Momma Mia and Lillix's 'what i like about you'

I went to Bangladesh over the summer (South east Asia) and there were people who lived in the cities who actually knew about 50 Cent, I'm like goddammit hes horrible but they think its cool since hes so popular and his shit is catchy. Also on the radio I heard alot of songs that copied some American beats and tweaked it around a little and claimed it their own. Plus there are people in India who like Iron Maiden. You'll find a video of it on youtube, I found it hilarious. Search 'Iron Maiden tour India' or something like that hahahahaha

of course they do, us music is really popular everywhere, isn't kinda sad. wasn't a miley cyrus cd on the oricon a few weeks ago....?

That's kind of a silly question I mean... internet... anyone from anywhere in the world can listen to music from ...well... anywhere else in the world...lol... but Yes...they do... I mean... you remember the 90's right? Those ...(*gags*) boybands ...hand fans all over the world. So Yeah...they do.. except well the Jonas Brothers suck so maybe not them.

Yes they do listen to American and Western Songs, mostly American songs because they are popular all through out the world. In the world of Music Japan's 'Oricon Chart' is 2nd to Americas 'MTV Chart' (which both is based on sales) and many times Japan's Oricon Chart has American songs and singers ranked in there along with other Asian singers.

Guys you need to stop being closed minded, not everything is about the West the world does know about Western Music, It is just that Westerners don't take the time to listen to foreign music b/c they don't understand the language, frankly I am surprised at people who listen to foreign music and are like 'wow they sound just like
Pop or R&B... etc.' C'mon people it's the 21st century get out there and EXPERIENCE the WORLD!!! It ain't all about the WEST!

I've always thought about this but is "Girlfriend" by Avril Lavigne in any Asian language?
All I know is that it's in French and I always want to laugh whenever my friends play it on their iPod xD.
