It's popular in english-speaking countries and countries that use the english alphabet.

As far as I know Philippines is the only asian country that uses the english alphabet for their language.

PHILIPPINES FTW!

Are you saying Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and some other countries don't use english alphabets for their language?

I don't think it's banned in China ._. Well it's been a while since I went there, rofl.

And well... according my guess, I don't think CR is very popular in China. Afterall they don't really need to look for anime online. I'm pretty sure have their own sites for these kinda stuff. Also, they dub anime theirselves in chinese and mandarin, they have it on tv and available on discs for sale everywhere.

I mean, just walk into some alleyway, find a dvd shop and go to the cartoon section.... =___= I assure you can find everything. So basically they probably won't know much about crunchyroll.

I think on the mainland is not that quite popular 'cuz internet is not an economical way to watch anime there, the only thing I can think of is buying pirated CD's which I think popular to China so it's like a whole anime ep in one CD but has poor quality
