Hong Kong isn't a country now is it? Don't you mean China? Anyways I don't think this is very accurate for some reasons and one being something Darkphoenix3450 kinda pointed out, some countries hide their technology so why make a list when you don't know all the facts yet? I also bet Japan and all those other Asian countries have better technology but hide them anyways, Japan probably uses game systems as a cover . This discussion kinda sounds like "Which country is the most intelligent?" though so don't forget America has a whole bunch of different people's from different countries.

I found that list... Took me some time to see what there judging by.
There Judging by Military and the Governments had for tech. Not what Joe Smoe: "The people" has for tech.
'You Forget a few factors you have to look into wen your talking about this. America will not let Japan Build a military, so its hard to judge Military tech with them. SO Already because america will not let them have one, there already losing out on this not so well put together list.

Its Nice and All that Americas Military and NASA is so advanced, but what if we was to look at the tech the people of that country has compared to other countries. If that was the case both Japan and Germany would be to the top, Fear not Denmark would be able to stay up there as well. But America no they be down to about 15 or 16.
You forget not all countries hide there tech from there people. America is one of the countries that have a government that does not like sharing what tech they have with there people. So if the people of the country is not able to use the Tech, is it really counted for them!

I read the whole report after i made this post. Anyway, it's not just military we're talking about here. From what I believe, the report takes into account the contribution of each country to technological advancements and communications as well as how helpful this technology is in improving standards of life because that is what technology'is all about. This report is to show how well technological business operate in each country and how well adapted they are towards receiving such businesses which probably includes research. Let's take into account that U.S. and Other European countries are the leaders of science and technological contributions that are helpful in the science community and the masses. You know inventions and discoveries. Let's focus on the U.S. versus Japan here, who invented what??? The way I see it. U.S. are entrepreneurs when it comes to inventing while Japan almost exclusively makes those inventions much more applicable to the public. Although, some of these modifications cheapens the product...

Let's make a list of what these two and other countries have contributed to the scientific community....please post only inventions that are useful and not odd...

How about a Tank? http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=HAaHKRfiiaQ
Or body suits that enhance your strength 10 times? (sensors attached to the skin detect the weak signal from your brain to your muscle even before your muscle reacts.. this is the reason of the strength improvement.. the robot is moving the same way and at the same tie you are trying to move yourself.. and since it is attached too your body.. your body takes support on the robot.. so you kind of rest while HAL does all the work)
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=HjHyNNyC62Q&feature=related
In English for who ever does not understand Japanese.
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=VSP46lWvxJ4&feature=related
How about robot maids? http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=G5Vd9k3-3LM

At a later time I will post a lot of tech from Japan and Videos for them all as well, just so you can't say I am not telling you the truth. Yes I make a list and prove my list as well. But for now I am playing a game.

Well the thing is, its actually not that surprising.

Think about it -- technological advancement jumps by leaps and bounds when new things are invented (e.g. telephone, etc.), but only slowly progresses when things are improved upon. A lot of Asia (in general)'s so-called technological advancement comes from the IMPROVEMENT of everyday things. Many of the things that Darkphoenix3450 listed were only improvements in robotics - it doesn't take into account creating something radically new.

Radically New?
And America has?
In the last 20 years?

Improvements in Robotics is it not Advancing in Technology?
Tell me Does america have a suit that enhances your strength 10 times? (what Kind of advancement was that from!)

and its true we dont have robots runnin all over doin stuff for us but neither does japan.
the robots in use in the usa are more for military / police use for bomb disposal and search and rescue / survalance etc.

No america does not have a suit that enhance strength like that.
I know because a read an report about America trying to strong arm Japan into sharing that technology with them so they can use it for military applications. The people working on the Suit refused. They created the suit for peaceful uses, not for war.

America was not so happy about that. Tell me If america has such a outfit why did thy try to take it from Japan?
