I think that asian actors (in asian, not in america) are more open to that kinda stuff. like in hana kimi where the guuys dressed as girls. you don't see it in america. I personally think that there is nothing wrong with being effeminate. :3

To me America is a very masculine country. If you look at areas of the world, showing femininity has no harm nor are they scared to do so. it is just the way society dictates how people act. There could effiminate (not sure if i spelled it right) Americans, but due to society they are not confident in showing that side of themselves, while in other societies it is ok.

AGREEED! :3

Second that too! American males are kind of insecure, they have the mindset of everything has to be big and strong in order to be respected.

I don't think that they're feminine per say, just that compared to the guys in America or Europe, they look like it. I live in America but watch a lot of japanese, korean and taiwanese shows, and from what I've seen, guys from these countries are more comfortable in showing their cute but hot sides. Girls actually like that in their men there. A CUTE smile and a romantic side. And you can't look cute and romantic with a lot of big muscles. Whereas here, show that side and you're peg as gay automatically and not many are comfortable with that. They must look sexy like it's almost a requirement to look like they have shagged many ladies before or something. America is very sex-conscious. I can't watch any show without it having mentioned sex at least once in the episode. Personally I love Asian guys better because I feel like they will stick with one person for a long time whereas American guys will be only after one thing only.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TRUE!!!!! I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE LAST PART 2!! THATS EXACTLY WHAT I THINK WHEN AM WATCHING A AMERICAN DRAMA!! why do they always mention this and i mean like did u see 90210 ??? their having sex at the age of what 15-16

I don't think they're really effeminate, but it's probably because of their hairstyles. A lot of my friends say that a lot of male East Asian actors look like girls. In East Asia, a longer hairstyle for males is really "in" right now and considered very stylish, especially when it's actually styled with wax, hairspray etc. In America, guys tend to have really short hair (from what I've seen, and this isn't really including the fobs and those people) and it's really "in" I guess.

I can just explain this the stereotypical way though.
Male Asian hairstyle = long, styled
White hairstyle = short, not styled, but if it is, then it's just the front that's gelled up.

Actually I only watched the first episode of it and already it turned me off because not 5 minutes into the show, one of the guys was already getting a blow job in his car. Like seriously? While in Asian dramas, we'll be lucky if we see a chaste kiss much less a passionate one throughout the whole series. Never sex. It's really all about the relationship between the two based on the compatibility of their personalities. It's what attracted me to the asian dramas.

I don't think it's entirely true... they probably do show more of a feminine side in general (and a few of them actually LOOK very girly... say, most Japanese guys.. haha) but that doesn't mean they are effeminate.

I KNOW RIGHT! omg in the commercial i thought wow this show s cool and i waited for it to air and my father was like put the news on and i was like I WANT TO WATCH 90210 and my sisters were sitting with us in the living room 2 until that stupid part in the car i was like this O__O and my sisters were all Laughing their asses out my father got soo angry he took the remote control from me and i regret ever wanting to watch that show. In asian dramas they keep u all excited and anticipating for 1 single kiss or a hug and when they do show us that scene am like AWWWW SO ROMANTIC!! you know i soo luve asian dramas cause they always respect their viewers and fans!

It seems like Asia is for those who live from the dramas we
love to watch.

I have seen effeminate actors from East Asia.
But they use Converse Accident in this article. I must say
Asia is the biggest continent and are they disregarding middle east? what about the south east?
do you find them pretty boys, effeminate in some sort? that's creepy my dear.

(or probably because they are the most popular anyway )

I guess, east asians have established their culture of not too intimidate to know
what people think about them
that is.

-- they have this skinship. Hugging as if they received a hug from the opposite sex. there are less angst.
which made me feel cozy for them to watch because they seem to be soft and sensitive. quiet but really childish.
they don't seem to care if people see them close from someone with the same sex as them
as if it is wrong anyway.

i just find it tiring to watch actors doing dress up as girls repeatedly and as if they own the tile of being pretty boys for fan service. if they can carry it in real life then so be it (i have seen guys who can do so and that seems okay with me. i mean that's how their witty personality work) and for those who did if for the sake of good stalks from crazy netizens, that is just a no-no.

just let the ability shines. don't make things like that to satisfy the fans' hungry eyes for same sex couples. At least for me

ei. i like eun - hae tandem but not as a couple but more of the bond they made as friends.

I thought that the accepted wisdom was that there is a vastly different standard of male beauty East to West.
I find Asian males much more comfortable showing their female side (and let's face it--we ALL have both)
I think perhaps it's because Asian women like pretty men as opposed to the over-steroided brutally dumb
American role models out there, which I personally can do without. I like pretty men too.I think the overwhelming
majority of American male icons can't hold a candle to whom I consider to be the best looking Asian males.

But hey--that's just me.
