This is such an interesting topic!

My opinion is, more than half the really popular East Asian actors and idols I've seen are f eminent looking. BUT I think a more accurate way to put it would be to say they look more youthful. They have facial features of a child, in a scientific sense. Females too have a more youthful facial structure. So I don't think they look f eminent but youthful. As far as acting f eminent, I don't they are too f eminent overall. Dressing....sometimes I think they cross boundaries. It seems more acceptable for males to accentuate their small wastes and show an hour glass figure....I find that overly f eminent because females have wider hips and hour glass figures for a reason. There is a natural evolutionary reason for this (child birth). To me, its f eminent regardless of behavioral and social sex roles and norms, witch vary from culture to culture and time to time. It is f eminent on a scientific level....Just my opinion.

I think its that overall American idols and actors have harder less delicate features. But to blindly characterize American ideals of a handsome male as brutally dumb is ignorant. Not all of them are wrestlers. I really doubt most of the actors are on steroids. Being too muscular will decrease their popularity.

quite true, "cute" and "kawaii" somehow seems to be the more appropriate words used to describe them instead of "hunky".

i believe theres a huge % of asians, whether they are actors or not, who are very effeminate. i see them on the street all the time. i think that having a skinny body, tight clothes, in addition to long hair will make you look effeminate. most of them dont play sports either, which the anglo world usually associates with manliness, or a true geezer. you dont see many asian guys coming on strong to women either, and that is often seen as a sign of being a real man. if you want to look at an effeminate asian actor, check out leon lai. even the name leon is usually associated with gayness. i would have said he was gay by looking at his youtube video, but i dont see any mention of his gayness in wikipedia. even american born asians seem feminine to me, like wang li hong, and daniel wu.

this ones quite funny and looks like a bait bus seduction pose.

Omg lol. Who is that? i seriously thought that was the lead actress from Josie and the Pussycats!!!

I think there is a large proportion of feminine actors in asia but not all. If thats what sells then those are they kinda guys they're gonna put out there. Personally i prefer a manly man...... but then it doesnt stop me watching all the asian dramas and films (and thinking the actors are cute!)

I think in some ways its true. I have never (yet) seen a movie where the main guy can pull off a manly look. There is always just something about them that is too girly. As for the girls, the most girls always play an ugly, unwanted, stupid girl. So that figure why society this so. To play it fairly though, Americans can't make good love movies. And when they try to make a remake of asian dramas or movies, it sucks.
