1)Will it work? It most definitely can work and I've seen it happen. I just don't think it's always the best of decisions but it just depends on the people involved in the relationship. If they really want it to work , then it will work. Like I said, I've seen it before. (You can also take into consideration the many people in the military to have to deploy overseas and leave their loved ones behind. Although already committed, that is a long distance relationship)
2) People probably commit to long distance relationships because, of course, they want to be together and not give up what they had together. There must have been something great about the relationship that makes them want to stay together.
3) Positive things: you can have the break that you may need away from each other and during that time, you can really start to think about the relationship itself and if it is even worth it. It's good to have time to yourself. Negative things: It sucks when you can't see the other person. It's nice when you are in a relationship and can just call the other and say that you want to see him/her or meet up but of course in a long distance relationship, you don't have that option. You mostly only have the telephone as a substitute which can be very lonely sometimes.
4) Would I ever do it? I already have done it and it didn't work at all. I probably wouldn't do it again either. I don't long distance relationships and with my personality, it just wouldn't work out for me one bit. Like I said before, I think it depends on the person and if they really want to be together.

If you can survive a long distance relationship, you have a better chance of suriving marriage, that's all I have to say. Oh, and I dont mind cheating, every single relationship I've been in, I've made that perfectly clear. Actually I dont really call it cheating, its more like...testing the waters to see if you can find something better kinda deal with me. I prefer a love that is not blind.

Well, feel free to set yourself up to be betrayed if you want, but in my opinion they'll never work. Why should they? You're here; your boyfriend is over in a different country - he's not getting much out of the relationship - there might be hot girls throwing themselves on him. You lose, girlie, just by merit of distance from the Y chromosome.

I know people want to believe that their love is strong, it'll last, etc. I felt like that, too . . . but it didn't work out. Hey, we even fell out of touch within a year! I've got another separation coming up, with a guy friend who's a year older than me and going back to the States for university, but I've already foreseen that our friendship will be over by September. Guys just don't want to bother.

Positive? Well, if you've got a devoted guy, you get to keep your relationship. Negative? You usually get hurt. If you're committed to a long-distance relationship, then you're not going to be the one cheating; ergo, you're the one who's going to be hurt.

I wouldn't do it again. I'm a one-chance-only person; once bitten, twice shy. I think long-distance relationships are only for the romantically delusional. Sorry for the lack of sugarcoating.

;3 if you've known them for a while (or at least met them once) in your life and you keep in touch every day. it works out ;3 But it only works out if you ask them: Will you be mine? in Real Life Face to Face even if you've been apart for so long it will last. And you're heart just can't wait to see them again. And when you see them; you're not disappointed or feel weird you just spend the most MAGICAL time. ^^
