Personally I don't think long distance relationships are smart, yes some work, but most of the time they don't. Keep in mind this is just my opinion, but I can't be in a relationship with anyone whom I cannot see or touch. How can you really know a person from just their words? I just don't get it I guess.....

Long distance relationship? I don't think it would last, if there's not some kind of promise to hold the relationship together, like an engagement. And even with that, I don't think it would last. If you miss one email or one phone call, then the other would start to doubt. It's just human nature.
But maybe people who really love each other would be able to work it out. I'm not so sure I believe in love though, so I don't think a long distance relationship would last.

For me a long distance romantic relationship is doomed. I don't have the patience to put all that work into it and I'm kind of jealous so it will always be in the back of my mind who is he with? Usually I'll just say lets be friends and if we ever get together in the future then hey it was meant to be if not well atleast were friends. My main problem is I have a short attention span in "romantic" relationships with guys that live in the same town with me let alone a long distance relationship. Whoever is in a long distance relationship good luck

lol agreed.. My sister is on the phone every night crying

Hah, this subject is amusing to me simply because I'm in a long distance relationship right now. And to comment on the subject, I think it depends on both sides on whether they want to make it work or not. You know, commitment and all that. If one side is more committed than the other, then it's not going to work out.

Or of course if you change your mind suddenly from one day to the next, from a "I love you" to "I'm attracted to other people now" which is retarded. (Sorry I'm venting).

So yeah in my case I'm the more committed one. But my point just being based on committment.

It is easier when you are both adults and if you have the money to see each other on a regular basis, perhaps every weekend. But then can you really call it a long distance relationship?

I live in DC. If I had a GF who lived in say NYC, I could take a 3hr train trip to NYC every Fri evening after work and take the train back on Sun night. During the week, we would both be working full time anyways and not have much time to spend together.

If you don't have the means to see each other on a regular basis, then the long distance relationship is doomed to fail.
