I've been to chibicon in derby and had a pretty good time (although its amazing how fast the money goes £50 in one morning, I'll have to remember to get another tempory job and bring some more money if I go to another one)

When I got home it wasn't so good though, the Shakugan no Shana boxset which I thought was an absolute bargin at £30 turned out to be region 1 only (so basicaly no good in europe unless you can get you're hands on a multi region dvd player), the guy at the counter never warned me about this and when I checked the website it said they had a no-returns policy for DVDs bought by mistake like this.

It was lucky that there was 1 multi region dvd player in the house (now precariously balenced on a plastic box near my TV because thats the only way the scart cable will reach) but if there wasn't I would have been left either having to fork out for a new DVD player or having a £30 paperweight lol.

So yeah if you go make sure to pick up any dvds, blu ray disks, games or possibly videos (don't know if they have region lock or not) you buy and thorourghly examine the back of the box 1st to make sure they play in your region (if you don't know what DVD region you are in check wikipedia since they have information on the dvd and blu ray regions at least)

Also don't expect jewelry to stay in its origional state for long, I bought a nice Haruhi bracelet thing with the SOS brigade symbol on it and now the chain has started to go from silver coloured (I thought it was nickle or something) to copper coloured as the colouring rubs off (I don't mind that since I like the copper colour but others might)

I don't mean to print conventions out as some kind of place for scam artists since there were plenty of nice people there and the people running the stalls were pretty nice too (one even warned me and my brother about yaoi when he went to check it out without relising lol) but you do need to be wary about what you are spending your money on while you are there.

I went to the MCM EXPO in London in October, it was my first convention. It was soooo much fun. I'm going again next year in May, I'm hopefully going to cosplay.

I really liked the guy who cosplayed Hard Gay! OMG!

Yes there are "so" many Narutards and Bleachtards in Phil Anime Con.

I mean it.
It is somewhat scary for me at first, but after a few hours, I really enjoy going to this kind of convention..-^^-

I've been to a few. It's a lot more fun if you go with friends and if you cosplay. If you're into cosplaying you should cosplay when you go to a convention. It'll make it so much more fun. If your character is well known (besides naruto and bleach) you'll get alot of complements and a lot of people will take pictures of you. And you should bring a camera. You'll see some really awesome cosplayers and you might want to get a picture of the the guests.

I'm not going to Oni-con, but I've been going to Anime Central for the past 5 years. I went alone one year, but it wasn't too bad. I met people to talk to and hang around. Making new friends at the cons is the best part. Ha, one year, I got into a pretty long argument about runes in Suikoden, but I won, so I was happy. It's weird not cosplaying at cons, but I think I'm hitting that point where I'm getting too old to do it, so I think the fun factor might be dropping a bit, but at least I can drink, right? Hehe.

This is what happened at the con... which was horrible and fun:

Me and my friend drove for 10 hours to get there, and we waited in line for 2 hours for the con. My friend(named Jak) saw a person cosplaying as Ash from pokemon and Jak wanted to sing the pokemon song with Ash and other people. Well there was this one girl that didnt want to (we thought she was cool) and she said "Lets not do this, its embrassing." Well my friend said "fuck you" to her sarcasticly. Well the girl took that the wrong way and went to go tell one of the staff that was working at the con and he kicked out my friend, so we were only there for like 2 hours. We had also bought a 2 day pass . Well i didnt get kicked out but its not fun if my friend wasnt with me.

Well thats mine, what about yours?

Oh yea, is anyone going to Oni-con? I am

Very help site... shows all cons and when and where they take place.

Did your friend apologized for his verbal assault to the girl? Did he knew that there are rules that protect the safety of convention attendees in an anime convention? If he didn't then I see nothing wrong when he was kicked out from the convention by the convention authority, for breaking the convention rules and seriously violated the safety of convention attendees with his verbal assault.

Yes, I've been to Anime Expo three times already. It's the biggest North America anime convention and is held annually in southern California; the beginning of July, to be exact. It's $45 for unlimited access to concerts, AMV contest, the exhibition hall, and more. It's just great to hang out with fellow anime lovers and have photoshoots with favorite anime characters. It's pretty awesome how everyone you meet at the con gets each others' nerdy jokes...and how everyone always ended up doing silly things like (as mentioned by the first post) singing pokemon theme song.

@ forum creator: that just really sucked. I think that girl is a bit TOO serious about your friend's comment. I mean, it's an anime convention. Barely anybody is serious there...

I'm volunteering as a convention organizer for my local city, and myself, the convention staffers, the corporate sponsors, and the anime industry are all seriously working to bring you the convention contents like the industry panels, video rooms, industry guess speakers, industry talents, advance screenings, concerts, and just about anything and everything that has to do with negotiating with the Japanese anime industry, local suppliers, convention hall & hotel reservations, stage equipments, and free gift bags. And just like yourself as convention attendees, we of the convention staffers are also there for the convention.
