My earliest memory of anime here in the Philippines dates back at the mid 90's when RPN9 airs it english dubbed(i gotta admit that it's not crap) Ranma 1/2 and DBZ, IBC(or is it ABC, my memory is a bit murky) airs its tagalog dubbed Yuyu Hakusho(commonly known as Ghost Fighter in the Philippines) and ABS-CBN's tagalog dubbed Magic Knight Rayearth and Slayers. At that time, anime is not quite popular until the 1997 when ABS-CBN and GMA see anime as a huge potential and started to air some prominent animes at the that time like Neon Genesis Evangelion and Gundam Wing... The Popularity of anime is boosted when GMA premiere Ghost Fighter in their prime time slot with a whooping 7 million viewers. Anime in the Philippines is futher cemented its popularity when GMA launches Anime Assault( im sure that there was something before anime assault but I can't put a finger on it), it featured 2 animes a day, 5 times a week...

In the year 2000 and beyond begins the rapid decline of anime in local TV due to MTCRB meddling and whiny conservatives. Because of this people begin to search animes over the internet and discovered IRC downloads and torrent downloads. Eventually, Filipinos learn how to stream and thus they begin to leech to a streaming site such as CR.

There are lot of inaccuracies in my statement but this is the closest thing that I can remember.

Anime has been on Philippine TV long before I was born, and I'm already 20. Even my grandmother has a few she enjoyed watching(World Masterpiece Theater titles).

IBC 13, that's right.

I'd like to add, though, that ABC 5 also had their 'Sailormoon' series, and 'Slam Dunk'.

I get the fact that Filipinos are all very proud of their motherland which is a good thing, but for heaven's sake, please refrain from using a foreign language.

there's already anime here in the phils even before i was born. We grew up with it. almost all of us and from then on anime has never stopped growing. it's getting huge and crowded too.

Anime primarily caught our interests and we have to find ways how to broaden our knowledge with it.
From that, i can say that Cr has given us that satisfaction.

we just can't take away anime out of our way. it's always with us.

don't hate the country...hate the one's living in it...meaning us :)) nwYaz...maybe it's becoz...filipino are much smarter that they would rather stream the vid than buy or wait for it to show :)) that's what I think..and maybe there are so many bored filipino like me who wants to relief their boredom by watching anime..and really it's quite effective...
