Storyline. The art can be FREAKING AMAZING and the anime be total crap.

Blue Gender had pretty good art, but the story sucked so bad.

Though.. Sometimes if the art sucks I won't even check out the story line. Like, when I watch a little bit, if the art sucks I might shut it off. Or if I'm in the bookstore and I flip through it if there's not good art or if there's no scene that looks interesting I'll just put it back up.

I'd say SOME, not most, per say. A lot of them have the same characteristics. Not everything is the same I'd say.

Okay. I'll edit it. I forgot the term some, so I used most.
I got to agree lol. Thanks

Eh, I usually take a quick glance at the art before I consider a series; if the art is decent (or passable in my books) then I move on to read the summary. However, if the graphics are absolutely horrible - as in un-proportional face + body for example - it puts me off watching no matter how great the storyline is ^^;

^^ I wasn't criticizing you. But yeah, I totally get what you're saying. I think that in America the animation styles are so different! The anime styles have a lot of similarities (not saying they're the same, exactly).

Both should be balanced... For a great storyline to work, you need very convincing art of course...

Art definitely gets me interested, but what keeps me dying to watch more is the storyline. Without a good storyline, you might as well call anime craptoons, lol. It's sort of like that old saying, "You can't shine crap!". Although, Mythbusters proved that wrong...in this context it works
