So, I wondered if anyone knows about the characters' name meanings. I mean most mangaka put thought into what their character's names mean, right? If anyone else knows about their names, you should post about it. I'm not 100% sure on some of these names, especially with the names that can have multiple meanings.

So, here are some that I can translate myself(Keep in mind, most first/last names in Japanese don't always have to relate to the person's personality):

PS: If you cannot see Japanese writing, then you may need to update some software... sorry about that.

First Arc:

Longchamp Arc:

Kokuyo Arc:

Varia Arc:

Future Arc:

Italian car-related names:

Spice names:

So, let me know if there's any Japanese names I missed. I might end up doing Italian names as well.

Oh cool. Yeah, Uri is a melon. Lal Mirch is Indian for Red Pepper(Basil, Oregano, and Turmeric are also named after spices). Xanxus, I don't think it has much more meaning than the 2 X's for 10... Belphegor is a monster or something(Goetic?) for Sloth, Mammon the monster of Greed(also Goetic?), Superbi means proud in Italian, and Squalo is shark in Italian. Gola Mosca/Moska is Glutton Fly in Italian.

Vongola is a manipulation of the Italian word Vongole, which is mean clams or something of the such (makes sense, the Vongola emblem contains clams). Cervello is also Italian for brain, Cavallone, I'm not so sure of. Giglio Nero is a type of flower, Gesso, is somewhat chalk, I think, Millefiore, I'm guessing a is a random word and original to the show. Bovino is also Italian for meet or beef (I think), it's also the name of a town in Italy, according to some of the books I've read. Not so sure if all of my translations are correct, I've only been studying Italian for two months now. I'd translate some Japanese stuff, but Pikangie already did that for you guys, and probably a better job than I would have done, I wasn't so sure about how to translate Kyoko.

Millefiore means "Thousand Flowers" literally, which makes sense since most of the Millefiore have some kinda flower fetish, LOL..
Varia is also a town in Italy, or rather the nickname of one... I also remember a character named Varia in Xena, rofl...

I've always wondered why Amano chose "Vongole/Vongola"... maybe there will be clams later on... o_O;
