Is Swearing Really Bad?

When I was younger, I was often called by the guidance counselor in our school because of the same complaints – my uttering of bad words.
I live in a country controlled by the church, so bad words are considered taboo in my place which really sucks.
For me, it's not really "bad" since they're just words anyhow, it can't kill anyone.
I guess it just depends on our culture.

its not that its so bad. it just reflects poorly on your upbringing and shows a lack of character when you use profanity. you can be far more effective at conveying a particular message without using profanity.

in general, yes..you would appeal mean if you badmouth all the time.
in my case, i just say bad words in my mind or softly ( so no one can hear it)
it cant be helped---especially when im very pissed.I just have to say something to release the tension.

i think so. I don't like saying profanity. I think it's only for the ignorant to use.

if you're using curse words to express yourself that means you have a limited vocabulary (and yes i think it's bad)

Depends how you think about it. If you look at the words and how they got there meanings, I really don't see a problem with them. But today, the words have taken on a different context so they could be considered socially unacceptable.

So long as they aren't used to directly degrade a person, then it's just an added flavour to speech. Despite this, some people are just a little more sensitive than others, and may find it distasteful. That said, it's a matter of context and appropriateness. Sure, swear your head off as much as you like in front of friends, but don't do it during a company interview with the board of directors present. You should be intelligent enough to know where to strike the difference, anyway.

I can't help it it is part of my vocabulary but I really have no control, when you tell your principal to go f*** himself you get to thinking maybe you need some self-control

I used to curse a lot. My best friend convinced me to stop, so I don't like swearing anymore.

i really dont get wat the big deal is with swearing.
they're words. i haf to admit, they haf a stronger impact tho. but seriously, words are words. you learn them sooner in life, so you might as well use em to the greatest of your knowledge. i guess tho that it would be harsh to use those words in front of little kids.
but hey, i learned the word fuck in preschool and look how i turned out (:
