It's more about judge of character/self respect in my opinion. But in the end all they are is words. People just choose to accept them as insults.

I never understood why swear words are "bad" words. If they are bad then what are the counterparts to them? There are none that aren't contextual like please and thank you. Words are words. Its how they are used and the meanings they convey in an intelligible statement that lend them any value, power or tone. Rather than get hung up on the semantics of whether swearing is good or not try it when it would feel appropriate to you and make that decision yourself. You might find its really no big deal or that it feels really fucking good.

Nah. I say 'bad' shit all the time. As long as you don't use cuss words around people who're super offended by them.

Coming from the perspective of someone who writes a lot and likes using words, I'll say that swear words are kinda like extra adjectives, synonyms, or interjections sometimes. And the way the word's used makes a difference too. As adjectives: if you said to someone "I fnckin hate you" after they brought up an embarrassing story about you if you said it while laughing everyone would know that you're just joking. As interjections: after you stubbed your toe or something you might say "Sh!t!" because of the sudden shock of pain. As synonyms: referring to your belongings as your "Sh!t" or "cr@p" is common. It's not bad it just adds extra meaning to it. Like that you think the stuff just gets in the way.
I think that you should be able to use swear words as long as you're not hurting anyone. I mean they're really just words if you google it swear words are words that have a meaning like "bitch" or "bastard" but using the word that was isn't as common nowadays. Ex: a bastard is someone who's parents aren't married but since we don't hear the word used that way anymore it's now seen as offensive because of the way people use the word incorrectly. And because society just tells us that the word's bad; people are also more offended by some words now so that's another reason why society tells us it's wrong. I don't like it when people over use swear words though because it makes them sound unintelligent and it just bugs me for some random reason. I dunno why :3

yeah. it's like cursing other people... and by cursing other people, you want them to have misfortunes and bad things happening in their life. it would hurt other people's feelings and they might take it seriously.

Nope! It's just the time and place you should be doing it that really counts.

I find it bothersome when people use swear's in normal conversation when swears really dont have a place. Example "Hey Ted how the fuck are you?"
