Obviously. When I first came, things were a lot less organized: we didn't have the great anime page we do now, just a list of new eps and the index tabs at the top of the page, and instead of having video folders and all that article pages basically had the name of the series, a brief synopsis, some genres if you're lucky, and a list of the eps, all on one page. We didn't have all of the awesome features we do now, they hadn't started removing licensed anime yet, they accepted the occasional donation but had no star members, and it was way, way smaller. Stuff like Naruto and Bleach was still around, so most of the members were Narutards (instead of today's fangirls and VKfags), and there were way fewer members. It was still way better than most of the other anime sites I've seen, but yeah, it's come a long way.

And anyway, we're getting eps way later than just a week after the original air time right now. Since subbers take forever to get eps subbed (no offense meant, subbers, we know it's tough!) and it takes even longer to get eps approved, most of the series that're still airing are way behind on here. Even if you don't pay for the anime membership, you're still getting eps faster than you usually would.

When I first came to this site in 2007, this was a haven of free anime so that i could indulge in my favorite guilty pleasure:P. I loved the dramas, animes, music, and forums. At some point in time, crunchyroll began to create payed memberships, instead of just asking for donations, and finally they make really high rates for us to pay if we want to see the anime earlier. Fansubs release what they're advertising for free, and its pretty fast, and on that note, crunchyroll is not accepting fansubs anymore. Do you guys think that crunchyroll changed alot, or is it just me.

i;ve had two accounts here... i cant remember when i made my first one but this one has been there since 2006 and cr was so much more better in the past, but even so, at least now we can still view subs a week later for free. im not sure though, this may be weird but i like fansubs better tbh :DD i dont like official subs... much. i think cr is justified for putting up star memberships and now these new ones. and cr has become a lot more commercial; good for shinji not for us T~T [well some of us.]

cr still is a good streaming site... i download licensed anime and anime in which quality makes a difference.

Crunchyroll changed even without the deleting of fansubs.

Crunchyroll used to be alot more fun before, I dont know but things were definetly alot better, some dont talk much, and if they do its usually the same shit, or its always about the avis, banners, icons and blahh.
Avi this banner that. People are obsessed with that.
<~~ yesh I like to make avis, but I dont talk about it 24/7.
So crunchyroll was changing even without the extra news, of course now with this crunchyroll will never see its better days.

Though I haven't been here long I at least understand that such a site takes a LOT of the admin's money to run. Im sure he's asking for donations and creating said memberships so the site can still run. The only difference is that people who pay get some better quality and some nice perks while everyone else can still watch for free. It's not like Shinji wants to pay everything out of pocket by himself! What's wrong for asking for some help? At first just donations. And when you got nothing in return it was no biggie but now since he gives people who donate a perk, it's bad? Hmm... sounds like a little bit of flawed logic.

As for them getting rid of subs... I don't think it will really happen. And if it does it won't be as soon as tomarrow (or so I hope.) I think the logistics behind pairing up with some licensed anime is a good one. The site probably gets help for the company lisenceing the anime since CR is hosting it. I rather watch it on here than clutter my small living space with more overpriced DVDs I'll only watch once. I rather donate to CR what little they ask when I can watch so much as opposed to buying a DVD for $25 for only 4 or 5 episodes, if I'm lucky.

CR has changed in what time I've been here. I mostly come for the dramas I'll never get to see here in America. But I believe that Shinji is doing what's best to keep CR alive. So instead of saying things are so bad maybe we should be thanking him for keeping this site alive for so long?

Though I will admit I'm impatient about waiting a week for a new episode D: lol

Yeah this site became really crappy about March this year when Naruto, Bleach and tons of other stuff got licensed quickly followed by D. Gray-man, R+V and virtually all my favourites
