Do overseas asian look down on native asians?
Posted 12/12/07
as an american born chinese i dont look down on fobs or asians living in asia.

i think they have better work ethics than americans and are not afraid of hardships or suffering.

i think the worst are the american born asians who are too damn comfortable in the the US. what also annoys me are the asians who cant speak their own language. they think they are white when they CLEARLY are not.

Go ahead and 'look down upon'. For the wise would know that the looker is of no higher position than the one who is looked upon.

I know at least one native-born Chinese person who sort of looks down on American-born Chinese for losing their culture, I guess, and being too American.

I live in an area that was mostly settled by Germans, so many people here have German heritage, however I doubt they speak the majority speak fluent German.

And I have a few Asian friends who don't speak their parent's native language, or at least fluently, but are very proud of their culture. I know they act like most people in my community (which happens to be predominantly white, so therefore they act it) even though they are not, but they grew up in the US. Isn't that expected? It doesn't mean that they think they are white.

Most of the time they do. I think most people just need to have someone to look down on to make them feel better about themselves.

I cae across reasons like people in their native lands are poor, traditional, strict and also because they were born in a white country.

Men have a selfish desire to be above another. Superior. That's why they subconsciously seek means and ways to categorize, label, separate, distinguish, define and have their group interests, because the group who wins obtains benefits. In this case, a superior 'race' gets more attention because they hold more power than the subordinate group.

lol i look down on native filipinos(i'm half) since they're all skinny and tanned and not attractive at all. plus they live in a like a third world country that has bad polution and it is super hot there

Wow just Wow. I can't believe you said that. So what if they're all skinny and tanned, they live in a tropical country and it's expected to be super hot there. Since they live in a third world country, you look down at them? are you kidding me ?. Do you have no pride at all on where you're coming from ?

Since you are half, you think you are the superior race ? In general, there is no reason to look down at others.

As for the OP question, I don't look down at others in general, although, it bothers me the fact that I can't speak Chinese because I was born in Indonesia and noone since my great grandparents speak chinese. I look like Chinese and there's Chinese blood running through my vein. I will learn it someday though :).

o_0 Dude. She just said, "Men have a selfish desire to be above another. "

That selfish desire also applies to women. Hmmm... let me give you a simple example: how about the movie "Mean Girls."

Clear minded... or would it better to simply say to have a broader perspective? Think the others' viewpoint also by making yourself fill onto their shoes. sheesh.

people are just stuborn to admit that there is no superior race isn't it?
If there is "superior" race, then someone please do provide us with the edvidence that mother nature did declare a superior race since the the begining of time.

Superior race is an excuse for one to perpetuate the racial sterotype in the journey of self glorification.
