Do you have questions about "Gaki No Tsukai", which bother you? :)

How about put it here? Maybe someone will know an answer :)

OK, what bothers me:

1. I'm wondering, what Japanese people think about face slapping... is it really so funny for them? I know this is the show, they do it on purpose, but still... how is it in reality? I'm from Poland and in my country this kind of hitting is huge insult.

2. How tall is Tanaka, if Endo has 167 cm?

3. "Matsumoto Batsu Game - Pie Hell" - I hope it wasn't Matsumoto's real house?

4. I know it's private case, but still... why Endo and Chiaki divorced...?

1. I'm not Japanese but i'm Asian and I don't feel that slapping is much of a big deal. Over here, it's weird since they usually punch/strangle you instead. But I personally feel like it's just a comedy thing.

2. I thought Tanaka was like 6 feet (aka 180cm)

3. Of course it's not Matsumoto's house....he wouldn't be that calm if they did that in his house.

4. I heard it was because Endo was too much of a play boy. Either that or she didn't approve of him kissing and doing other things with other people for the sake of comedy. Check out the episode with the horse draggin. One of them, you see Endo kissing somebody.

hologramm - yeah, I understand you very well... I'm from Poland and over here "Gaki No Tsukai" is completely unknown. We even don't have similar games. That Europe...

But I'll try to answer you:

1. Endo and Tanaka are childhood friends. They both born in 1971 and raised in Toyonaka (a city located in Osaka Prefecture). In 1992 Tanaka asked Endo to join him as a duo "Coq au Rico".
2. Cocorico's subtle humor went unappreciated by most comedians, until it caught the attention of Hitoshi Matsumoto of the comedy duo Downtown. In 1997, they became regular members of the show Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!!, where they made their big break. (wikipedia)
3. Hm... I don't know about anything like that, sorry :)

Okay, and I have another (maybe stupid ) question.
It's about Kansai dialect... Matsumoto and Hamada are using it, this is what I know for sure. But how about the rest of gaki members? Do they speak "pure" Japanese? And is it true, that Kansai dialect is improper and so different from official language?

its improper to use it's like poor country slang, i don't know if the others speak it (my japanese is still to poor to see a real difference, to me they just talk way too fast lol) but the dialect became very popular in the comedy world because of downtown so i guess they do.

queenturtle, thank you, hologramm, no problem :D

About another questions...

1. Ashita ga aru sa... this is the song, which Matsumoto sang in "Haunted Hotel" The title means "There's always tomorrow". Gaki members made a cover of it, if I'm not wrong. And you can find this song over here (by Ulfuls) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXLU4TecYEk. If someone is interested, I have this version as mp3 :)

2. Yamasaki is the producer

3. Takasi... tsukamoto... sorry, I have no idea Maybe Takeshi? I remember the show "Takeshi's Castle", but it was a looong time ago

By the way, does anyone has the song "Zard - Makenaide" as mp3? Or maybe someone know, where I can get it? I'll be very grateful for an information!

ashita ga aru sa: im not really sure but it originally comes from a american song from the 60s but it never got popular, then it was remade in japan (don't remember who). It got popular for two reasons, one is re:japan who features a lot of japanese comedian like hamada, matsumoto, endo and tanaka. I don't know why yamasaki isnt in it cause he is a really good singer. there's also a alternative punk group who did there own remake wich is also very good (don't ask me the name i also don't remember) the song was about a young worker who wanted to make it to the topbut a americain gaijin was ahead of him. Because of this version it became almost a antem for a lot of japanese feels the same way. Than Hamada produce a show and a movie base on that song, plus there is also a tv add series about a energie drink i think that feature hamada singing the song. Thats pretty much all i can say about it hope it helped (by the way im french too)
