Welcome to the Winter 2008-2009 Anime Preview, where once again, members of CR come together to help bring you this list so that you know what's coming out. This list was compiled in the Winter 2008-2009 Anime Group Forums. Well, where to start. This preview came out later than I originally expected (2 weeks overdue), but nonetheless it was completed without THAT much delay...  If you haven't heard by now, Crunchyroll is undergoing several changes, changes that'll affect the site and the users that log onto it everyday. Starting in Jan, 2009, CR will be hosting several anime series of which you can view the day after they release with subtitles for a nominal fee. Regular users will then be able to view them for free afterwards. What may really worry other people is what's going to happen on that same day: "Crunchyroll will stop accepting user-submitted videos and other content from individuals, and only host videos approved by copyright holders." Crunchyroll has always been a place to share one's thoughts and feelings, whether it's through the forums, chats or even the videos themselves. Although the videos may be gone, the users will still remain, and that's what truly defines Crunchyroll. I'd also like to say that this will be the last anime preview that I'll be leading. It's time for the next generation to take the reigns. Happy Holidays and Have a Happy New Year! See you next Deculture!

The long awaited “Summer of Anu” has come. Keita Ibuki is an independent and struggling freelance computer programmer who had a chance meeting on one night with a high Mototsumitama named Kuro. He gives her his dinner, a bowl of ramen, and tries to protect her when she is attacked in an ambush by an unknown Mototsumitama. Keita loses his entire left arm during the fight between the Mototsumitamas, but Kuro was able to save his life by exchanging the decapitated arm with her own left arm since she has enhanced healing abilities like all Mototsumitamas. This creates a contract between them, which makes her more powerful than before. However, Kuro warns Keita that they need to be together all the time in order to be at their strongest.

Tsutomu Senkawa is an average high school kid who is busy studying for his senior entrance exams. Tsutomu goes out for some fresh air, after a hard day's work studying for a big test, when he runs into a guy fleeing from a pretty young lady. The pursued man is actually an interplanetary criminal on the run from a Federation agent called Birdy Cephon Altera. Caught in the midst of this chase, Tsutomu gets thrown by the man at Birdy, which kills Tsutomu. Fortunately for Tsutomu, there is a way to keep him alive, although it comes at the price of discarding his body. He ends up merged into Birdy's body.

The work recounts the life of a son of a Japanese emperor, known to readers as Hikaru Genji, or “Shining Genji”. Neither appellation is his actual name: Genji is simply another way to read the Chinese characters for the real-life Minamoto clan, to which Genji was made to belong. For political reasons, Genji is relegated to commoner status (by being given the surname Minamoto) and begins a career as an imperial officer. In the not too distant future androids have come into common usage. Taking the androids for granted, humans treat them as if they were common everyday tools, while on the other hand, some people empathize with androids due to their human-like appearance (save for a digital ring floating above their heads). This has become a social problem and these people are frowned upon as a result. Rikuo, one who has taken androids for granted for his entire life, one day discovers that Sammy, his home android, has been acting strangely and finds a strange phrase recorded in her activity log. Walking home from school Aya Iseshima stumbles upon a brutal brawl between two girls fighting over something called the "Platonic Heart". Being a martial arts master herself Aya interferes in the fight to break it up. Afterwards Aya befriends one of the fighters and finds out the Platonic Heart is a jewel that can grant one wish for any girl that posseses it and there is a battle royal tournament going on for its control. Unfortunately for Aya it seems her interference has now registered her as a participant in the fight and it looks like there's no way out but to win.

The OVA adaptations of the series are good, however screw those, this one is the ULTIMATE Negima anime adaptation!
Based on the original manga chapters, these OVA episodes don't follow any of the previous adaptations before it, which thank god wasn't even close to those series. Season of OVAs from manga volumes 23 to 25. First episode covers chapters 176-177, second episode covers chapters 178-180, and the third episode covers chapters 182-183.

Thank you I can't wait for Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou but its kinda disappointing that it won't be on CR I was hoping it would b/c Tokyo TV has it. I won't give up my hopes just yet!! I thought the XXXHolic and Tsubasa OVAs wouldn't be out until Spring?
