whats with forums with crunchyroll topics nowadays...??? instead of mourning for the loss of "not having fansubs sent by members" why don't we enjoy it while we still can.

As far as I want to support CR, I guess I have to turn to reality that I can't pay such amounts.

Well, the thing with the change that most people don't like is that very few shows will be updated. All the shows that are being updated is whatever is most cost effective for the site. Which is understandable from a business stand point.

I think an option that should be presented in a vote (month long) for which shows/companies the site should include in its growing collection. So that the people who pay for premium have more control over what they are paying to watch. Though because people who aren't paying money to the site are really only eating bandwidth (and by that money) I believe that only premium members should have a say in what is added.

Really, I just wrote a term paper for my BUSN classes (4 papers) so I might be in that kind of mode.

Also, before anyone says anything, no I'm not going to be a premium member. I can't value something I get for free with a simple button click. Though the 720p is very, very nice.

The thing is, even by just being here as a basic member can help crunchyroll to attract corporate sponsors by marketing the web space for advertisements. And in term the advertising fee can also be used to finance both crunchyroll and allows crunchyroll to license even more anime series from Japan. Those surveys are just the corporate sponsors ways of finding out what do we want that they can sell us to. So if you still want the extra services that came with the new anime membership, then do those surveys and let the corporate sponsors pay your membership fee with CR bucks.

It can't even reach a dollar per site from the page of CRbucks.

It's true that it can bring corporate sponsors the problem is that those corporate sponsors will also want some of the website in payment for their contribution. So their backing won't happen without the owner of the site being willing to give away some of his/her property. Also, if anything they will place adds where for every click he/she will make money.

I really wouldn't mind knowing the future plans for the site. Not just a monthly plan, but the overall business plan. As in how he/she plans to keep the site running, and what shows/companies it is in the works of obtaining.

though as you know at jan 8 cr will be changing. cr will not accept fansubs or videos from members anymore. we will be getting our anime from top japanese companies. please don't be mad about this, the variety of anime will be small at first but then there will be many good anime later. you can get free membership.http://www.crunchyroll.com/preorder?src=topbar go to other option under the 3 thing of membership there will be free on at the lower right corner of the 4 options of pay. the video quality will be alot better and for paid members they are high def quality. please support crunchyroll with this alot of companies may get sign a contract with crunchyroll and one day this may get all the anime in japan and movies on here and u just have to wait 3 days later than fansub videos or 3 days earlier than fansubs with paid membership and its legal this way. if we try to get crunchyroll really popular than they will get money and we will be happy with all the animes we can watch.

plz don't lock its different than the other topics.

ps. i know some or most of you may be mad at me for supporting cr after this but if u read the to u understand y i am its beneficial to us anime fans and crunchyroll and also the anime companies if this turns out well

Another CR controversy... well i dont really mind since another site just like CR will arrive

Do you know that by downloading illegitimate fansubs, you are possessing illegal properties stolen form the anime studios by the internet fansub groups and their supporters. And can get you in trouble with the law:

5 Anime Studios Sue 4 'Heavy Downloaders' in Singapore

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-11-17/5-anime-studios-sue-4-heavy-downloaders-in-singapore

Writs of summons filed this month for alleged infringement of studios' copyrights

The Strait Times newspaper reported last Wednesday that five Japanese anime studios are suing four allegedly unauthorized "heavy downloaders" of the studios' copyrighted material in Singapore. The local law firm Rajah & Tann filed the writs of summons on behalf of Japan's Showgate, Geneon Entertainment, TV Tokyo, GDH, and Sunrise at the beginning of this month. According to the newspaper, the four indviduals had rejected a previous offer to settle out of court.

Earlier this year, Rajah & Tann sent warning letters to alleged anime file-sharers on behalf of Showgate. Those earlier letters said that these individuals had been using the BitTorrent file-sharing system to download anime and infringe on Showgate's copyrights. Last year, the local anime distributor Odex had sent legal warnings to several Singaporeans for allegedly unauthorized downloading.

However, District Judge Ernest Lau had also ruled last year that the original copyright holders themselves — and not Odex by itself — must take direct legal action, and Singapore's High Court upheld that ruling in January. Showgate, TV Tokyo Medianet, GDH, Sunrise, Kadokawa Pictures, and Yomiuri TV had announced their support for Odex after Judge Lau's ruling last year, but Odex director Stephen Sing told The Electric New Paper in August that Odex was not involved with Raja & Tann's more recent warning letters.

I read that paper too. Yeah, I won't download but you know...find other sites to watch because my parents won't ever allow me to pay for anime. (Adult but still controlled ^.^) Maybe I'll join once I've saved up though.
