Finally, some news on Lee Junki’s new drama, Hero [히어로], which was announced last year but has remained rather quiet. The drama was first titled “Strange Heroes,” then “Unseen War,” and is now back to “Hero,” although the production indicates it is a working title.

Cast as the female lead is Cain and Abel’s spunky Han Ji-min, who plays a passionate reporter with a strong sense of responsibility who often grows furious at social irregularities. Lee Junki’s a reporter who rushes recklessly into accidents and incidents without fear; he’s also a guy “who doesn’t have much, nor does he want much.” As ordinary citizens, the reporters stand up against the inequalities between society’s masses and its very elite.

Lee Junki and Han Ji-min have both had very good luck with their last few projects; his Time of Dog and Wolf and Iljimae were both action hits, while her Cain & Abel and Yi San both enjoyed good ratings. We’ll see if that luck continues when they combine forces in this latest project.

Hero will begin filming in September when it finishes casting. The series will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays on MBC this fall.

In all the drama that Junki-shi's been in, he didn't have good chemistry with any of the female leads.
(He was great with Lee Young Ah, but she wasn't the female lead.)
I think it's because Junki-shi tends to steal the spotlight whenever he's on screen that his female partner gets left in the dust.
Take Han Hyo Joo for instance. I loved her in Brilliant Legacy, but in Iljimae, she just didn't stand out at all.
And even in Time Between Dog and Wolf there was missing between him and Nam Sang Mi.
So anyway, I hope there'll be good chemistry between Junki-shi and his female lead this time.

HERO (MBC) started filming with Uhm Ki Jun and the supporting actress (I don't remember her name)!!!




And HERO will be aired on Nov, 18th!!!!!!

Lee Jun Ki Returns as a Journalist | 2009.10.02



Having been seen more recently as a singer across Asia, many fans were wondering about when will we see Lee Jun Ki as an actor again. Well, that wait will soon be over.

After performing in Taiwan on the 26th, which concluded his Asia tour, he arrived back in Korea on the 28th after promoting the launch of his new photo book on the 27th.

It seems like he's restless when it comes to work, for he joined the filming of his new drama without any breaks having been in three different countries in 3 days. He finished his first filming session with success by raising up the atmosphere with his banter. After all, Lee Jun Ki has the reputation of being the "Clown" among his fellow actors.

Lee Jun Ki will be making a return on TV as a role of a journalist, Jin Do Hyuk, for the new MBC Drama, Hero (temporary title). In the story, Jin Do Hyuk is a man who has got nothing but just his passion and optimism towards his life as a "third-class" newspaper reporter. I don't know about you guys, but I don't think anyone besides Jun Ki can digest such character. Kim Min Jung will play his love interest although she was the second choice after Han Ji Min dropped out due to personal reasons.

Lee Jun Ki revealed after his filming, "Although the holiday isn't that long, I hope all of you guys have a great Chuseok with your friends and family. May the happiness be with you." Aw, how thoughtful of him!

Lee Jun Ki's new drama will unveil their first episode on November 18th, succeeding the current drama "Heading to the Ground" led by Yunho.

First look at Hero’s heroes [2009.10.07]



Another of the year’s highly anticipated dramas is nearing its premiere date: Lee Junki’s MBC drama Hero [히어로], which features the star as a hot-blooded reporter. On October 8, new stills were released of Lee Junki in action on the set, which follows a previously released still of second lead Eom Ki-joon (below), who plays a rival reporter.

In the new images, Lee’s reporter character arrives at his first day of work at a small-time newspaper. Lee Junki said, “The director, writer, and all the actors and crew are going into filming doing our best. Please look forward to the liveliness and passion of the drama, as well as a side of my personality I haven’t shown before in other projects, as I play a reporter with cheerfulness and enthusiasm.”

One source from the production team of the comic-infused drama said, “The director has worked with Lee Junki and the other actors for a long time in advance, so the set is very upbeat. It’s so full of laughs that it almost feels like the set of a comedy.”

Aside from Lee Junki and Eom Ki-joon, Hero stars Kim Min-jung, Jung Soo-young, and Ji Chang-wook and follows Heading to the Ground on Wednesdays and Thursdays. It airs its first episode on November 18.

Kara To Make Drama Cameo Appearance | 2009.10.09



It has been reported that 5 member girl group, Kara, will be making a cameo appearance for a drama.

Kara will appear in the the first episode of MBC drama Hero (tentative title) which will premiere on 18th November. The two main characters of the drama Lee Junki and Kim Min Jung will be cheering for Kara at their concert.

A representative for Kara stated, "Although it is not completely official, we are optimistic about their cameo appearance which will be shown on the 18th of next month."

Kara will soon be ending their promotions for Wanna and Mister in mid-October. But they will not be idling for long as they will go straight into preparation for their new single album, scheduled for release a month later in mid-November.

Hero Gets Pop-Star Cameos And A Japanese Broadcast | 2009.10.10



Driven by the star power of Lee Junki, MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama Hero [히어로] has been licensed for a Japanese broadcast even before it airs in Korea. This is not that surprising when one considers Lee Junki’s widespread popularity throughout Asia, but what IS surprising is the recent admission that the licensing was done far in advance — as far back as last November.

A source explained on October 9 that most dramas in this climate are subject to economic considerations and licensing is generally not finalized until two to four episodes have aired. “However, in Hero’s case, recognition of the solid synopsis and lead actor Lee Junki has led to an unusual circumstance of an early sale at a high price.”



Also announced on the 9th was the drama’s confirmed cameo of pop girl group KARA. The ladies will be featured in the first episode in a performance scene. The mini-concert marks the first meeting for Lee Junki and Kim Min-jung, who play a reporter and a police detective, respectively. They get off on the wrong foot, so I’m betting we can expect a lot of bickering in their future.

The KARA members said of the cameo opportunity, “It’s an honor for us to start off this drama together with Lee Junki and Kim Min-jung, who are actors we have always liked. We’re already excited just thinking about filming, and and really looking forward to it. It feels exciting to be able to show a different side of KARA in the drama.”

Hero premieres on November 18, after Heading to the Ground ends.

Paek Yoon Shik, Returned After 6 Years with 'Hero'! Bowler Hat Brings Out the Charisma

Actor Paek Yoon Shik returns after 6 years parting.

Paek Yoon Shik has published his photo in MBC new Wed-Thur drama 'Hero' (as of now, script by Pak Ji Suk, directed by Kim Gyeong Hi) showing the charismatic side of him.

Actor Paek Yoon Shik who has always shown his charismatic acting skills in various drama and movies will be casting as Jo Yong Deok who used to be a ganster leader, and will a new side of his acting style.

The photo shooting session is about Jo Yong Deok (cast by Paek Yoon Shik) who has just being released from prison, wearing a cloth wooven bowler hat, a white short sleeves shirt, pairing with white long pants and white leather shoes. The complete set of white attire has bring out a different feel about him and has drawn more attention from others. His unique eyes and facial expression is really drawing a lot of attention.

MBC new Wed-Thur Drama 'Hero' (as of now, script written by Pak Ji Suk, director is Kim Gyeong Hi) which planned to be on air by November has conducted an online selection of 'Hero Supporters'.

The supporters will be selecting 10 from Korea and 2 from overseas which is from China and Taiwan.

There are total 341 people applied for the selection which lasted since September 30th to October 11th, this is a tight fight of 1 out of 30. And the supporters who were selected which will be announced on October 13th will be invited to the drama shooting scene and sites of official activities, to be the supporters for the promotion of the drama.

Lee Jun Ki who has performed well and received good comments in drama 'Time Between Dog and Wolf', 'Iljimae' will be casting for small time newspaper reporter, Jin Doh Yeok, in following of his high popularity. Kim Min Jeong will be casting as a 'passionate' policewoman and will challenge action scenes. Both of them has individually hit high drama ratings of 'Iljimae' which is 31% (TNS Media Korea nationwide), and 'New Heart' which is 33.6%, hence heating up the anticipation.
