Initially, there is something wrong with the H.264 encoders, so videos can't be encoded into H.264. But the latest videos that i have seen are all back to normal, getting encoded into H.264 format pretty quickly.

Shinji, what's up? I heard that youtube is based on the H.264 files. I was just wondering, since you also converted it to that format. Will I be able to see crunchyroll videos on my Apple iTouch? Youtube's fine and all, but crunchyroll has those specific videos I like. Please let me know..^_^

Unfortunately, no. Remember, H.264 is a compression format, not a streaming format. Though the site utilizes an H.264 format, it still uses a flash player that is not compatible with the iPod Touch. Until Apple releases a plug-in that allows it to stream flash content, you'll have to just wait.

The H.264 is pretty awesome, but there are some issues with certain anime series. Some videos have sound syncing problems in H.264 (Strawberry Panic to name one example), but the sound sync problem is gone in low or high quality streams. There some videos that actually loses the subtitles (Gift -eternal rainbow episodes after the 3rd one). And there are some videos that displays a green screen ( some Tsuyokiss episodes). I asked the uploaders about it. They said the problem shouldn't be the videos themselves. Is there going to be a fix for these bugs soon? Other than that the H.264 is bloody awesome.

@ Hot_Karl & andydono: Some videos will have some discrepancies, either because there was a problem during it's encoding as H.264, or the original video isn't compatible (meaning, it used a codec that doesn't encode properly when converted to H.264).

Some of the problems can be any of the following:

1. Streaming Artifacts
2. Slow streaming (frame rate time out)
3. Absence of subs
4. Distorted aspect ratio
5. Clipped edges on videos
6. Videos out of sync with audio
7. (rare instances) garbled sound or other sound artifacts

I'll inform Shinji and ask him about how these videos will be handled ~ if they will be re-uploaded, or if they can be re-converted to H.264. Besides that, thanks for letting us know.
