Is there going to be a change in the number of videos available on the site because of the new policy in January?

There’s definitely going to be less videos at the very beginning. But the difference is that the videos we’re going to have are going to be really the best content. Naruto, for example, is the number one anime online. That’s going to be on Crunchyroll. The only place to access it one hour after airtime is to purchase the subscription plan on Crunchyroll.com. Right now we really have a lot of long tail content. Some of this content, it’s a shame, but there are really no more committees for it. There’s no more approval process. There’s really no way for us to get the license sometimes. Unfortunately that will be lost but we’re replacing that with much more quality content going forward, and hopefully that will draw a lot more audience to our site.

Its seems that Narutards are the new Crunchyroll audience's target

If you want to keep watching whatever that you watch why not let CR knows what series you like to watch and ask if they can bring it back legit. The new CR is going to mirror the old CR except that it is a legit site with downloadable option for some anime content. I hope that CR will show Jdrama and Kdrama along with Asian music videos and songs. What I would really like is to buy downloadable songs of Japanese and Korean music like iTunes. Also, I hope they will license manga and be able to read legit manga like what Go! Comi offers on their site for 25 cent per chapter.

I don't think that there is a download option, for now.

Update 12/10/2008: For people asking whether it'll be downloadable or not, sorry, it's streaming only, I couldn't get permission to do downloads. But the streaming quality is better than download quality, so why download? There are concerns about people pirating it and putting it on Bittorrent or whatever. We could also do DRM but I know people don't like that.

Question.

Will CR publicize prior to the change over, which series that are currently available, to be removed?

If the list is somewhere, could someone email me where to find it?

Also with the company based subs, has there been discussion on including cultural related content like the fan subs do, by either drop down, or prior/after the anime.... or even a link to a page with details for each episode?

Also when episodes from companies become available, will they re-post an entire anime series with their subs? Or just "pick up" ..

Sorry for the "questions" post.

I'll stay away until there's an option to pay per episode for titles I wanna download.

Files to keep forever on my computer?
Yes please.

This is the only thing that I have that could answer you question with what is currently in ties with crunchyroll as of right now-- this is not including the TV Tokyo partnership.
"What will be left on crunchyroll after January 8, 2009"
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-405938/What-will-be-left-on-crunchyroll-after-January-8-2009.html

Other than that, I think that the other question are better left to those who knows about this situation much better, maybe Shinji or the higher-ups. Sorry, if I couldn't answer your other questions.

Yes.
The membership is just to get the premium stuff, like early viewing and HD-quality. For the free account, we would just have to wait a week to watch the show, which is not so bad, considering that it is still somewhat free.

Isn't BAD? Are you kidding?
I'm not trying to encourage pirating but honestly, if you feel like waiting a week for a new episode of anime to come out, then another week to for CR to show it to us for FREE then what the fuck? 2 weeks for 20 minutes or so of footage?

IF YOU TORRENT SOMETHING, IT TOO WILL BE HIGH-DEFINITION SINCE MOST ARE
like many people always say when they argue against me "If you are an anime fan, waiting an extra week from the original week wont hurt you"... Well... waiting a day for it to be subbed and maybe 1-2 hours or more depending on internet connection and saving money at the same time shouldnt hurt as well.

Btw, if you think about it, paying 6 dollars a month may not sound much (which will later be 12dollars) but what is being paid for is ridiculous. Whats been free for SO long, is suddenly turning into something you need to pay for.
If you are like me and only like certain genres, there is definitely going to be a problem. Not everything they offer you that will be LEGALLY subbed will be something that appeals to you. Meaning there really is no point waiting so long for something so simple that you can get somewhere else 1 week earlier. Almost EVERYTHING on this site right now is FANSUBBED, not including companies like Gonzo. Meaning those shows will be taken off but may be picked up.... maybe.

If im wrong, feel free to correct me. Maybe the way im seeing this is completely off, again this is just my opinion.

At least there are CR bucks.

How much is your subscription fee?

Normally it’s about twelve dollars. Right now because it’s pre-order we’ve discounted it to about six dollars. So six dollars a month, you can lock in that price if you order now, between now and January 8 when we start the program. We’ve only announced a handful of shows but in the next few weeks we’re going to announce many more shows, much deeper coverage of the content that you’ll be able to watch early as well as high definition.

None of the anime here was suppose to be free in the first place so nobody should complain for 6-12 dollars compared to how much it costs to buy one series

Well, I can't really stop other people from downloading or streaming Anime illegitimately. You can do whatever you want, the hell if I care (no offense). There is "FREE" and there is "FREE"-- I think you know what I mean.

My point of posting this article is to show the crunchyroll community how crunchyroll is meeting the FANSUBS fans halfway with legitimate Anime. Well, let's just see what happen's with Shinji's little experiment.

The real opposing part is, when fansubs are being distributed, the files go into illegal circulation and gets spread world wide , now whats to say this method of stopping this distribution of the video file. someone can and will be able to rip the flash or raws which ever and still make their own fansubs.

The point i am trying to make here is they are trying to be fansubbers but in a legal way which in return still does not allow them to make any money.

True there are those who pay for the "premium accounts" >.> "heaven forbid" but the populous of free memberships out weights the people who do pay. Now how are they going to save themselves is another story.

This method is a simple crutch for the anime companies not a solution.

Here's one for you if you have to pay to watch the anime that is different "well of course 'YOU' knew that didn't you before 'YOU' made this decision" by YOU I mean the people to came up with this ridiculous thought of a plan.

Also recently I saw that a 12 month member ship is like 60 or so? anyways, 60 dollars for 12 months unlimited downloads means you've paid for the anime and can do what ever they please if no one finds out. If a group of 60 each pitched in 1 dollar and bought this premium membership, what makes 'YOU' so sure they wont fansub it themselves? since you're videos for the premium members are 720 p i doubt you'll hardsub them well you can but again different story.

BUT aren't you in a way providing a raw source for them? but i am sure you've thought of that before making this decision.

Anyways i'll conclude this ranting about this "solution" you've taken into account >.>

I'll be taking (stealing) this from you. Thanks.

Since we don't have a crystal ball to see the future, let's just see what happens with this change.
