Generally I have to agree.

The more I hear about what's going to happen the more it sounds like a solution rather than a problem.
I, for one, would rather be honest than dishonest.

I've long thought, and said, whenever I thought my voice might heard. That the industry needs to find better ways to deliver anime than DVD's purchased sight unseen if it really wants to curb illegal downloading. This may be such a way. here's hoping.

Another thing they could do is pressure blockbuster to actually carry anime in their anime section. Instead of disks 2,4, and 11 of a couple of serials and the Miazaki/Disney collection.

I just wish they'd announce what all the titles they'll be bringing here will be. I know of Naruto Shippuuden, and I think they mentioned a few others, but aside from that...nothing. And none of what is currently legally on here catches me eye. If only Toei would put up Season 1 and/or 3 of Digimon...jerks. Anywho, I hope that once this all goes down I'll log on and see that they have something I actually want to watch. And as much as I like CR...I'll probably watch Naruto on Hulu instead. Oh, I wonder what quality the non starmembers/subscribers/whatever they're called will be stuck with? Anything lower than the H.264 that's currently the highest and I'll be pissed.

Hopefully they will have the rest of the Gintama eps up as well, might be a good idea to subscribe depending on how many series they plan on adding.

like i said before yes CR has a lot of viewers/fans but the lot majority are students. . . . . . .
the Q&A is very disturbing, upsetting, stomach churning, sad and a little bipolar. . . .

its great having it online, ilove CR not as much/as much as you guys do, come'on
i can't see myself paying on anime I can only watch 4 times a month. . . .
I feel like i'm backstabbing myself for this. . . . . . .

subbers and scanners here in cyberspace are doing it for free. . . . . why also here??
CR has gathered A LOT OF GREAT PEOPLE whom I know i'll never in IRL only here

this is kinda hard to take in. . . . . . . sry. . . .

i agree...if u can only watch an anime a certain amount of times per month then this sucks. It was kinda like the whole NHK thing awhiles back....i got soo into it and wanted to rewatch a certain ep and poof it was gone. The same with Strike Witches and its time restraints a while back. Im a student too...and scrimping dollars is pretty hard. If fansubs are removed from here i guess i result to torrenting animes.

seriously people who dont support things like this will find that they are going to one day kill the industry, can u imagine how much money the studios lose when fansubs are put up, i mean its fine if its an old series that you cant find on DVD but the point is, by supporting this we would be able to get anime more easily than anywhere else on the web, all you have to do is be patient and support the site

Yes. I think that that was the whole point of this site.
If you are talking about FANSUBS, then that is a different story.

lol them i am wondering about can we ( the people who don't lives in the U.S.A) still watch anime here.........

Well the first one was locked by a mod before I could do anything, but the second one's still up there: http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-411618/Who-plans-on-leaving-CR.html?src=topbar

And it looks like I'm gonna start busting some lies with this post that started the whole nonsense:

All the original English dub voice actors for the major characters are replaced (for example, James, Jessie, Meowth, Ash, Misty, Brock).

oh one more thing is that person in your avatar a guy wearing a girls dress ??

yeah he is a guy and his name is Raven from the Earl and Fairy series. What Maddie wasn't the original VA for Meowth or was she the new VA for him? Oh well I did see dub clips from the newer series she did a grand job still.

maddie was the first English VA for Meowth, she did his voice for the 1st season of Pokemon(well look at that, the word "Pokemon" is not even being picked up by spell check like "anime").

whats to stop some programmer to take that line out of the file it isn't full proof or that make another code to mask the original

i didn't read that forum and will most likely not going to point remains it is still just a crutch and not a solution

I find it hard to believe that internet hackers would bother themselves with stealing anime, when they can't even steal the whole internet.

how can you steal something that isn't physcially there -_-

Exactly. To those hackers, the anime subculture is as good as something nonexistent, and therefore a complete waste of time for them. They have a complete different set of morals and values than us anime fans. Heck, the internet fansub groups might just need to pay those hackers for hacking anime. Internet fansub groups paying hackers to steal anime? Now that's the joke of 2008.

God, this day makes me remember of that week Naruto and Bleach got removed from CR.

Tell me about it I thought I was going to end up smashing my head into the computer screen and whats worse people will still be complaining when ALL fansubs will be removed next year that means pretty soon Hula, Joost, [AS], CR, and Funimation will be the only places to watch anime at and its legal plus supports anime industry. It clearly says in the this article that CR will have 100~125 shows on here by January sure its not much now but it will grow very quickly and maybe by the end of next year they might have over 200 shows if people pay for subscriptions.

Although I do have to admit when I first heard about this whole removing fansub thing I was really mad but after I heard from Shinji I thought this was the best thing that could happen to CR. My New Years Resolution is going to be I'm going to stop watching fansubs altogether and support the anime industry when the change takes place Jan 8th and I'll prove that when I get my star for 12 or 3 months. Thanks to Dom for showing me that Right Stuff takes checks and money orders *is going to be ordering X tv boxset for birthday when May comes*

You're welcome sweetheart, and enjoy your birthday gift when it arrives!

Well that is crunchyroll's goal:

http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/13923.html

What’s your view of the coming months?

I think the winds of change are upon us. It’s really happened a lot quicker than I think anyone really anticipated, even us. I’m really excited about being able to offer our subscription plan. It took a lot of effort and energy to put together but being able to bring the content one hour after it airs in Japan for a very low fee, a few dollars a month, for people to enjoy everywhere else outside of Japan is really exciting. Hopefully people will really embrace this.

So you can subscribe for the anime membership and watch the latest anime instantly, or you can simply wait for a week after and still watch them with advertisements for free. As for myself, I'll save my money on anime DVD that I really like, and watch the rest here just to pass the time between my workouts. I like to teach people here about the anime subculture more than indulging on my hobby, anyway.
