Okay let's just think about how pissed off anime fans get when their favorite series gets dubbed...can you imaging how absolutely outraged people would be if something like inuyasha...how could they cast that. Lindsey Lohan as Kagome, Orlando Bloom as Miroku...oh the horror.

Depends on the anime series....
There were plans to make a DBZ blockbuster movie but it never worked out.

i agree... some animes are better off as animes, you don't want to see real people acting weird...

It doesn't surprise me when it happens. Many animes become dramas or movies in Asia and vice versa. And really, whether an American, an Asian, anyone helms and acts in the movie, it doesn't matter what the source material is but how it is handled. Look at Transformers coming out, a mainstream cartoon and anime for a long time. Michael Bay did it and it shall remain to be seen how it looks. Ditto on Avatar the Last Airbender, a cartoon now becoming a 3 part movie by M Night Shyamalan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M_Night_Shyamalan and this is also going to be either hit or miss (I know I'm going to wait and see as his track record hasn't been good). But I bring them both up as both are high end directors, with different track records of late, and it's still a potshot on how the movie will be done. Look at Sam Raimi and how it seems the steam is being lost on the Spiderman movies, even if he's a devout fan. It's all hit and miss so it doesn't surprise me as I expect some animes too to be made into movies if there is interest. What is done with the premise is always a gamble in the end.

They'll look weird, which really isn't a problem in the first place considering the anime was weird in the first place, and people liked it.

NO. That would totally suck. Anime is anime. Not all anime would go accordingly to a blockbuster movie. Maybe drama yes, but not all. If it's a lvie action by Japan, sure why not. But any anime/manga tainted by Americna Culture would suck balls. Its fine the way it is, manga being made into anime, and anime being made into live action. Let's stop there.
