steampunk started actually as a literary genre... in a sense of alternate realities of current technologies in a past setting (Victorian age + industrial revolution) it is a very creative genre and a sub genre of sci-fi... sort of opposite to cyberpunk wich is futuristic...

i love this genre over cyberpunk (i find it easier to imagine new tech than to re-imagine tech with old resources like steam and steel)

=)

I think it's gorgeous. You don't see very many people do that look these days.

If I could fill my entire wardrobe with it, I would.

I think its terrible...

I know people who think steampunk clothes, steampunk anything is cool...

BUT

Whenever someone says the word steampunk I feel terribly uninformed, I'm just like, "Huh? Steam-what?" I've never really known what exactly "steampunk" is, but I suppose I have a general idea (?)

Gawd, I feel so out of it...

Kids these days...

I love the steampunk look, although I'm really not good at classifying the elements in it.
I sort of describe it like, Victorian mixed with a bit of pirate and futuristic influences.
Could that be one way of describing it? ._.

i tried it out. it was cool for a show or two.
but its expensive to find old things you can actually use
from antique shops.
and i know abney park has a clothing line but if you dont make
it yourself its not steampunk.
