they're gonna do a similar thing in my country. In court, the music or movie industry can force your ISP (your ISP dont want to sue you because they make a lots of money because people share files) to reveal the identity behind your IP.

Then they will send you a letter asking you to stop. These letters are just legal blackmailing. (I've read these letters)
They want money from you, sometimes about 1000 USD

If you dont pay, they will sue you. If they win you have to pay an extremely large sum of money AND their cost for the court.
But they will have to prove that it is YOU who sat behind the computer that day AND that your filesharing has actually made them lose money.

But I dont worry. There are ways to hide your IP (legally) even from your ISP.
Its a myth that you never are anonymous on the internet

NOOOOO >_< What about those japanese songs which you can't find anywhere? TT_TT hhuhuhu
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not covered by the RIAA. Just use RIAA Radar to check. Suing you is up to whoever manages those bands, and Japan is starting to more aggressively go after foreign pirates (but it's nothing even close to RIAA levels).
Is torrents affected as well?
Of course. It's a form of P2P. And they can easily find the IP address of all involved. Just get on the torrent and look at the list most clients conveniently provide.
Downloading songs have been illegal in Singapore too, but it often depends on your luck. More than 60% of the Singaporeans still download them from the net and only 1-3% of them were caught.
