I think it's only fair that kids who just get into anime watch dubs-its more westernized and easier for them to follow. I personally prefer subs, but thats mostly because I'm trying to learn Japanese and trying to follow the Japanese helps me with this.
What annoys me is elitists who think that they're better than other anime fans because they've been into it for longer, or because they think they know Japanese or because of anything else. People should enjoy the common interest instead of trying to argue about who is a better anime 'fan'

I agree. Anime is something that almost anyone can enjoy, and anyone should be allowed to enjoy however they please. Some people know more about baseball than others, but anyone can enjoy watching the game.

Dubs are sometimes better than the japanese, like in DBZ Gokus japanese voice is crap and he sounds like 2 year old,the english voices are much better on that particular series.Kinos journeys English voices are good too..Other times the subs are better. The reason Naruto and bleach and all that crap is popular is because its some of the very few series on TV here and everyone can understand them.Naruto is obviuosly for kids because its on jetix,a kids channel.

Some are annoying when they mix Japanese into English or end every sentence with "desu". English and Japanese were not made to mix as some creole language. People can choose to do it, but it doesn't make much sense. I find it somewhat amusing when the refer to Japan as "Nihon" when speaking in English.

Speaking of atttaching the suffix, "desu" to every sentence, that also annoys the hell outta me. There are "otakus" or adamantly obsessed anime fans at my former university who would respond to every question with a 'desu.' They would also conclude each statement with a suffix of, "desu neh? sou ka?" When I call Japan, "Japan" they say, "Oh, you mean Nihon/Nippon? Say it correctly next time." Reference to Japan as "Japan" according to them is a desecration of their advocacy to the Japanese culture. They respect and exalt cultures aside from their own with more enthusiasm, which is not bad thing but degrading for their own character.

On another note, the Philippines' main medium of communication is called 'Tagalog' not Filipino but many refer to it as the second mentioned, just like saying the medium in Japan is Japanese but people in Japan call it, "Nippongo." However, we don't violently react when people say we speak Filipino and not Tagalog. It amuses me that resolute fans fume whenever they say, "It's not Japanese! It's Nippongo!" as if it were sacrilege.

It is indeed annoying when people try to use the japanese language and other little things from the japanese culture they think they know from watching anime, and it just ends up extremly wrong, out of context or both >.<
on the other hand I don't deem myself to have enough knowledge in the matter to correct anyone else either, as my own japanese language skills only comes from what I've been watching and I have no first hand experiences of the japanese culture either as I've never even visited the place... thus I force myself to just suck it up >.>
same with bad cosplayers, just have to avert my eyes and happily ignore that awful get up when it happens to be on someone it wasn't meant to be on.
of course not claiming I can do it better but I have enough self-awareness to realize I'm not the type that would look good doing cosplay XD

I don't usually accept subtitles for the exact translation in anime, because over time and researching some of the Japanese myself I can see what a few words actually mean when they've been changed. But, I think that some words are slightly mistranslated so they will be suited for the viewer and so it's easier for them to understand, especially since Japanese language varies from others (a lot). I personally don't see the need to correct fans because its not really that important to me how other people read/hear the language and I don't go out seeking to correct them... because to be honest, I only care if I'm reading it correctly.

Kids that read or watch dubs/subs and think thats what there really saying.
Like the word Kisama! Kisama most kids mistakingly think means Bastard! "thats a Big NO!"
Japan does not have a word for fatherless children, that is why they used the English word Bastard!!
Japan It self do not have swear words, at most they have rude words. Such as the word Kisama : Ki - Precious / sama - polite honorific. In other words a closer translation of the word would be you girly boy, Or sissy! At most the word could translate to scumbag.

Have you ran into similar fans? How do usually react. Do you correct them? Or do you let them be blissful in there own ignorants?

I don't care since I understand them. Since I was a kid, I always knew some of these english dubs were incorrect since there are words in other languages that may or may not exist in English. I imagine not having the thought of tha, which is everyone. Ignorance? Not all, just lacking knowledge of other cultures. Hating? Well, i''m not a pyscho like you are so screw off.

I like Dubs. At that I think kids should watch the dubs..! I am not a big fan of subs, maby because I used to be subber making subs from German to English. But today more than ever Subs have gotten bad. Why I don't like kids watching subs I points out already, and the fact if you do happen to point out a mistake or two to them about it, they get all upset and call you names like you did. Thanks for joining the pack of Noobs that think there right even if they don't know the languadge. Yes attack me because I get tired of kids missusing words just because there half ass fansubs do.

Because you better off watching Dubbed than to watch a sub and learn about words that are not right in the first place. Better off keeping Fan Subs to a minimum.

Oh. You mean like;
** Spoiler Alert!!! click to hide or show**

or the world famous line "All your base are belong to us"?

Then I definitely understand the problem there. Still you can't blame me for disliking that nasal voice every character seem to have that makes me want to drill pencils into my eardrums.
