Hm....Well, to be honest, I myself was one of those crazed anime fans. XD I technically "gave up" anime and manga because I thought it wasn't worth my money any longer. But I do have a few friends that are....ehh when it comes to anime.

Uhm, they tend to address each other with -kuns and -chans, sometimes with -sempai. We're not in Japan. D;

I'm studying my 2nd year of Japanese as a sophomore in college, and when a few of my friends found out, they were like, "TEACH ME TEACH ME!" in a weird obsessive way.

They like to wear Naruto and Bleach and other anime merchandise outside IN PUBLIC. I have no problem-o wearing that kind of stuff in doors to sleep, but I think it's weird when they were those animal caps or Bleach sweatbands.

I prefer dubbing over sub when it comes to anime.

What angers me about some anime fans is how they overrate some shows into making it less interesting to watch anymore. Mainstream animes to be exact.

I also hate people who call people "bakas". That really doesn't make sense. SPEAK ENGLISH! ENGLISH! YOU'RE NOT JAPANESE! REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE POPULAR SONG FROM 1980 BY THE VAPORS SAYS!

I'm so sick of people trying to speak Japanese and throwing in random Japanese words. What could be so hard about using the word cute?

I tend to use the word Kawaii just for this effect you are describing. Sorry if people are slightly ignorant of things in a culture they were not raised and is very different to say american/european culture. No, I did not know that Japanese did not have swear words.

For people who want to find out about japanese swearing words, I dont know how much of those expressions are in actual use, but enjoy anyway: http://www.insultmonger.com/swearing/japanese.htm

On the subject, what really annoys me are anime fans who talk about anime they didnt watch / watched very little / watched whole anime in one day (can you really watch coherently 26 or 51 episodes of something in one day?) and they talk about stuff that never happened, or they heard somewhere that it happened or something third. It usually happens with popular animes like death note (when did exactly light killed his father.. idiots) or code geass or GSD etc.

Kids that read or watch dubs/subs and think thats what there really saying.
Like the word Kisama! Kisama most kids mistakingly think means Bastard! "thats a Big NO!"
Japan does not have a word for fatherless children, that is why they used the English word Bastard!!
Japan It self do not have swear words, at most they have rude words. Such as the word Kisama : Ki - Precious / sama - polite honorific. In other words a closer translation of the word would be you girly boy, Or sissy! At most the word could translate to scumbag.

Have you ran into similar fans? How do usually react. Do you correct them? Or do you let them be blissful in there own ignorants?

Not related to topic; just a minor meaning correction.
"Bastard" is not a fatherless child. It is a child born out of wedlock.

And one for on-topic...
Sadly, I actually do not correct them; I let them enjoy their lives to the fullest so they can embarrass themselves later on. It is entertaining after all if they actually mention something stupid while they think it is ingenious. But that is obviously just my opinion of them.
By the way, not only anime fans uses the wrong words... like "bastard." Just kidding.

Some are annoying when they mix Japanese into English or end every sentence with "desu". English and Japanese were not made to mix as some creole language. People can choose to do it, but it doesn't make much sense. I find it somewhat amusing when the refer to Japan as "Nihon" when speaking in English.

I hate people who call mediocre shows "the best show evar!!!1!" or whatever. Like, if you had seen more than like, 10 anime an accidental groping is not going to be very shocking or hilarious. I mean, sure, nobody will ever see every anime, but would it kill you to watch something that was made before 2000? You could at least wait until the end of the series to make a decision.

It also bugs me the way some people identify with shows, no you idiots, do you understand the concept of the "everyman"? Liking something is not the same as expressing yourself so it doesn't matter what show and what music you put into your AMV, you are not the shows you like. Also, nobody cares what your favorite shows are, don't just tell us, give us justification and maybe we'd respect you and the shows you like a little more.

I also am bugged by people who take anime culture too seriously. Not to be confused with somebody who forms serious and insightful critiques/observations of anime and anime culture, but somebody who is overly concerned with being "fashionable" in the anime community, IE by being the first at posting/watching a show/manga, "discovering" new anime, keeping up with the popular, but "non mainstream" anime. Or just generally acting like anime is somehow deeply important to their existence or identity, these people get uppity when "lesser" fans tread on sacred ground.

People who complain about subs not coming out quick enough, Do it yourself you talentless pricks. People who act like anime is some God given right. No, it has rightful owners and they aren't you. Related is people who get indignant when it doesn't fulfill some deep seated desire they harbor. Look, you aren't paying for it, you're the one who chose to sit in front of your computer, YOU wasted your life.

I'm pretty sure you could find people like any of these in almost any type of community.

Edit: Oh yeah, I also hate the japanophilia. It's just a place.
