What I would really like to know is the region availability. I've been watching Skip Beat until today when it suddenly became unavailable in my region. I suspect its going to be similar for Gintama and the rest too. I really don't want to become a member and then be told I can't watch anything anymore. Is there any chance that you can let us know BEFORE the early bird discount ends? Seems very unfair to me right now.

I'm really looking forward to the new changes. I won't be getting a paid membership (come January I will have a lot of school work, so I have the patience to wait a while for new episodes) but it will be exciting to see how this all works out. I hope that we will soon know the complete (or near-complete) list of anime that will remain on the site after the changes, because I'd like to have time to finish watching series that will be gone after the 8th, and I'm sure it is also very important to paying members to know if their favorite shows will stay.

I say let them leave. They can neither stop this revolution nor escape from it. Soon the leechers will have no choice but to either join the new world order or die. |

I have enough of people who claims that it is ridiculous that CR charges money for anime, etc.
You DON'T need to pay, free anime will still be available on the site. |

One thing that could upset allot of people is if this 150 or so series promise turns out to be mostly unpopular and older shows. Crunchy led the sales pitch with Naruto, Gintama etc. Soon we will see the real meat and potatoes!

Well duh of course the majority will probably be a lot of older and lesser known shows but with a 150 shows who really cares. There's bound to be some good stuff in there and I'm sure there will be a decent collection (I'm guessing around 15 to 20 to start with) of popular/new shows. |

I can't watch Skip Beat anymore and that's the anime that I support. And I don't want Gintama to be unavailable, too. Edit: Gintama is unavailable now too. I hope this is temporary till you launch the CR Anime Membership privileges this January. |

Click to show or hide shinji wrote: Hi guys, We've been receiving a lot of questions on exactly what the Anime Membership will be like, so I put this together to answer a few questions. There is also an FAQ you can check out. What will the video quality be like? It will be High Definition - Check out the sample here. Free accounts will have Standard Definition (like what's available now). Anime Members will have access to LQ, HQ, H264, 480P, and 720P, while normal users will only have LQ, HQ, and H264. Video quality depends on the source, but since we are getting it directly from the animation studios, it will be the best possible for new shows. Older shows from like 5-10 yrs ago may not have good quality videos. When do we get to watch it? The Anime Membership begins on Jan 8th. When it launched, Anime Members will get simulcast (access on same day it airs in Japan) for currently airing shows, while normal users get it later (currently 1 week later). For older episodes of currently airing shows (as well as older shows), we may release it on a schedule or all at once. We will have a release calendar (like a TV Guide) available soon! Sub or dub? All the shows will have English subtitles. Most will be soft subtitles, but may have hardsubs if softsubs aren't available. Subtitles will be provided professionally. We are currently exploring subtitles in other languages besides English. Territory restrictions? We try to get permission for worldwide broadcast (except for country of origin), but rights clearance is complicated! It will vary from country to country. We'll have a page with ALL the details soon! For example, Naruto Shippuden is worldwide except for Japan. Downloads? Not all videos will have DTO (download to own). Also, DTO is not covered by the Anime Membership and is a separate purchase. The Anime Membership is a subscription for high quality, early access, streaming. What shows will you have for the Anime Membership? We're currently putting together a list. Sorry it's taking so long~! We have to wait to announce certain things. But it looks like there will be roughly 150 titles available. If you have any suggestions on what you want to watch, just reply to this thread~! What payment methods are available? Credit card, Paypal, and postal snail mail. Also, for those of you who don't have money, you can get it for FREE (by taking like 2-3 surveys or signing up for things) We are currently exploring other methods like prepaid cards and things like PayByCash. If you have any other suggestions, let us know! I will be posting more details when I can, hopefully in the next few days! Thanks guys Been following the past few post on anime membership and firstly i'm glad I can pay by snail mail once I get the money but I would like to know about the currency. Although you accept many different countries currency from your post, but do you base them on US Dollar and we have to convert into the amount which is equal to US$60 for a 12month membership? Is it confusing to understand what i'm trying to type cause i feel i might have mis-phrased my message wrongly. lets say you want to get a one month membership; that's currently USD 6.95 and you want to pay for the membership...just with a different currency; lets say SGD, you will pay 10.0648 SGD here is a converter(mentioned in the FAQ for snail mail): http://finance.yahoo.com/currency-converter simple thanks, just wanted to be sure of that as Shinji didnt mention it at all |

This will make crunchyroll less popular and other video sharing sites like youtube, yahoo, megavideo, veoh, and many more become more popular. I totally agree with you. And if videos such as Skip Beat! first start becoming unavalible, there's always veoh and many other sharing sites. Youtube is slowly becoming better than crunchyroll as CR limits more and more anime to paid members and people living in the US. If more and more anime becomes like this, i'll rather quit crunchyroll and use veoh permanently and even create an account there. |

That is pretty money grubbing... you say this but if you read my previous post it costs £20 for a dvd which is bout $30 and your complaining bout $2? if you support the franchise then thats a pretty small cost. plus you can still watch the hi-def streams. |
