How long will it take you to edit your post to a more grammatically correct statement so we can understand you better?

I have no idea. I don't understand what she meant.

I would assume she's worried that all the anime is going to go away. It seems like she's saying that it's going to take two years to fill it back up. I consider that a somewhat optimistic response if she thinks it's going to fill back up to were it is now (or was about 6-10 months ago before they really started cleaning house to get ready for talks about putting licensed stuff up here.)

If you want to know the hard facts about it... much of the material that is currently up is difficult (if not impossible) to get licensing for... and with the business model they are predicting - if it's not licensed... it's gone.

This means that even some of the old stuff that no one can get licensed will leave.

On top of that... if you have thousands of people uploading material, you will have much more material than if it is filtered through legal channels. If they need to verify licensing for everything going up in the site, even if every company making anime jumps on board to streamline the process, you will not get the same level of input as thousands of individuals.

However, there is a slightly blighter side to this situation. This will be a great outlet for new anime, accelerating the releases of BRAND NEW anime to the internet - legally. New anime is being released all the time... if CR can get enough backing from the industry, imagine the future possibilities 4 or 5 years down the road. You will be able to hop on and watch the newest releases, basically on-demand.

Now people will argue that you can surf the web and get these same things fansubbed a few days later anyway... that's true... but for years people have been very underhanded with anime... many people fail to realize that the anime industry is suffering from this... if the industry doesn't make a profit - the industry won't make a product... where would you be without anime?

I think it's good that CR has found a way to get some money back to the industry, and where people may complain that they at CR are trying to suck some money out of the industry... they will be providing a service. Where else are you going to be able to watch quickly available, legal, high definition, releases of the newest titles that actually support the industry that makes them?

People will forever be grabbing anime from everywhere. Renting DVD's and Ripping them, downloading through torrents, watching butchered fansubs... that's how anime got popular in the first place... it became available. You already know you have at least 5 different places you go for your anime as it is... isn't it kinda nice that one of them is actually trying to do the right thing?

I'm sure if CR could get everything licensed, they would. Who wouldn't want to be the biggest legal outlet for anime on the internet? I will be sad when I see the old classics leave... the hard to find ones like Lily C.A.T. and others, but I have to say... I Bought Lily C.A.T. on VHS when it came out... if more people bought it back then - it would be on DVD now - because it would be profitable to do so. That's reality... if no one's buying it, they won't be making it.

That's the truth.

@sidnarged

I actually admire CR for taking a huge step in streaming anime online. The anime industry really needs to be supported. To be honest, I'm currently looking for a way to support the site. <I just hope HSBC approves my credit card application>
