the story line is quite strange at first, but I've watched the series 3 times now (its my favorite series ever) and it makes more sense everytime. theres a ton of metaphors throughout FLCL. Rezzy64's link explains quite a bit

I forgot where i read this but the creators of the anime wanted to make a anime that was very new and never done before. This probably effected the way the story unfolds greatly. I think I read this in the FLCL book. I can't find it right now, if I find it later I might post more.

Don't try to understand the plot of it but rather what things stand for. The "plot" was pretty simple but the true meaning behind everything was more complex.
Basically it's a story about Naota growing up with metaphors all over the place

Well, just like the above post says, yes this show is very easy to understand if you look at it from the simplistic story that they give you. The actual story is much more complicated and deep. About learning how to grow up and dealing with adult situations and adult responsibilities, while in the beginning stages of puberty. You know, crazy stuff like that.

I just read the manga and it tell the story very diffferently but ends all the same in a way. The meaning behind the story is the same except the very last part. In the anime she says he hasn't grown up yet, that he still just a kid. But in the manga she says that he has grown and kisses him goodbye leaving behind her moped. But there is one thing that i just don't get is....is that really her at the end
