FUNimation Entertainment Introduces New Video Portal
Dec 22nd 2008
Beta Version Live Today, Site to Premiere in Spring 2009

Flower Mound, Texas (December 22, 2008) -- FUNimation Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Navarre Corporation, today announced the test launch of its online video service, www.funimation.com/video, offering viewers the largest selection of streaming, on-demand, premium anime programming for free.
FUNimation will legally offer hundreds of high-quality, full-length episodes, including many full series, of current and catalogue programming from its library. Among the many titles of the video player launch are episodes of Darker than BLACK, Guyver, Black Blood Brothers, Gunslinger Girl -Il Teatrino-, Jyu-Oh-Sei, Negima 2, Ouran High School Host Club, Romeo X Juliet, Shigurui: Death Frenzy, Strain: Strategic Armored Infantry and many other top titles that are not available anywhere else.
Each week, FUNimation will be rolling out new episodes of the newest and best anime from Japanese producers -- including those currently airing in Japan -- as well other select video such as trailers, exclusive interviews, podcasts
and other FUNimation original productions.
Features of the site include:
● Higher-quality video player
● Both subtitled and English-dubbed episodes
● Flash video streaming, ensuring ease of use and cross-platform compatibility
● Same-screen video playback, without a separate pop-up window
● Expandable video player
● Lower lights feature
● Ability to share video
"The site was created to bring together the largest selection of the best anime and offer it in the highest-quality video available – for free,” said Brandon White, Interactive Manager at FUNimation Entertainment. “We designed it with the anime fan in mind. They can watch their favorite series anywhere and anytime – as long as they are connected!”
During this beta period, FUNimation will continue to add features that will enhance the consumers viewing experience.

My comment:
- Well, it is free. It is a nice alternative to illegitimate subs.
- These are full length episodes.
- There are about 3-4 episodes per series already available.
- The quality is really nice.
- There might be a problem with Regional stuff, meaning you may not be able to watch it at other countries aside from North America.
- It has a SUB or DUB option, so you can't really complain about "I like SUBs better."
- This is still in Beta, but it looks really promising.

reason why im starting to love FUNimation so much now. First they take over the series that Geneon couldnt finish (unfortunately Nanoha was their only failure so far), then they start their channel on youtube, get Shikabane Hime , and now are streaming their animes free on their own site. *is sooooo gonna love 2009 with FUNi*

Hmmmm..... Well Funimation owns slayers and I may be interested if they pick up the new series and the one coming out in the spring, but at the moment the only series that I will have to check out on the site is Guyver.
