Your thoughts on the current anime line-up

As you all know, CR is lisencing about 150 titles for your viewing. Currently there are 60+ animes lisenced in CR. http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime_lineup (Yes, the page is shrewy; it must be in the middle of contruction)

Regarding the current state of Skip Beat! and Gintama (seems they aren't available for certain countries; most likely the South East Asian side), the most important question is; are these animes available in my country?

The news is bittersweet I'm afraid;

While all of the current anime in the line-up are available for the US, it seems that most are not available for the Asian side. Looks like Shinji wasn't kidding when he said there could be some restrictions for the Asian side. This could be due to the lisencing agreement, though I have no idea why the Asian side could be blocked.

Two of the anime in this line-up also appears to be exclusive for Anime Members only; I think it means the premium membership though I can't be entirely sure. Possibly due to the lisencing agreement whereby they want more money. (I have no information regarding this matter; but I have no idea how much the advertisements pay for the non-members to watch the anime for free. So I assume that the Anime Members pay more).

Singoporeons may also have it tough since I found two animes that specifically said; Not available in: Japan (Already stated that most animes will not be available from the country of origin; in this case, Japan), Singapore . I think it's due to the fact that Singapore has been hailed as being one of countries where massive downloading takes place. There may actually be a deeper reason for this, since this fact doesn't correspond with CR's reason for lisencing anime.

I've also found one anime that will not be available in Taiwan, though the reason eludes me.

What are your thoughts?

Please don't bash CR for not allowing the anime to be shown at your region; click on the link below and read to know why they can't;
http://www.crunchyroll.com/help?topic=anime_member (Scroll down to the questions)

Don't start a war here either. I merely want your thoughts, not an arguement on why CR is doing this. By following the above link, you should know that CR isn't controling what anime can be seen by some countries.

Do also note that I also live in Asia, so don't bash me either.

Hope this isn't a duplicate; couldn't find any that was the same as this topic, only some that were similar, but had no relations with CR. Please report if dupe.

Better a neutral view on it than a thread whereby the thread creator start bashing about the line-up.

Your welcome. It's actually on the Anime Membership page. I've only recently found it.

Hmm.. Quite a good line-up for starters. Though I wish Martian Successor Nadeisco (TV) is included and not the movie (Prince of Darkness) even though it seems impossible since Nadeisco is GAINAX if I'm correct.

The lineup looks impressive. They do look interesting. I'm sure the lineup will get better or worse depending on a person preference.

I just looked through the listing that was on the link you posted. I really must say I'm rather unimpressed by that lineup. Unless they get some much better titles to fill in all of those "To be announced" slots I guess I'll be going back to the fansub groups and download like I used to. After all, if it's not licensed here, and no one in the Western world is commercializing it (read: butchering it,) then it's fair game.... :P

As to the restrictions for Asian countries, I understand the need to do so. Viewers there have my sympathy, but not too much so, as they have sources to get copies of these titles just like we do here in the States.

I'm willing to give these a try, though I might end up not watching anime entirely at all.

Actually, although we do have the sources, we are greatly behind on all the anime. Yes, we are closer to Japan, but we don't import directly from there; all the anime here are imported from the US (hence, most of the anime here are dubbed; even the ones on the local channels are dubbed). Anime in the Asian countries are not as popular as they are in the US; which is why we don't have much local dubbing groups.

Europe is worst though, I have to admit.

I know a good amount on there since I saw all of them dubbed a long time ago.
Guess it won't hurt to watch them again.
