ever heard people say "when you have kids you would want to live in the suburbs"?

what is so good about living in an area which is far from jobs, recreation and services especially when you have kids? and when you have kids how does spending most of your time commuting to and from work which as a part of suburban life good for kids.

I never heard people saying that before so I dunno...

Maybe because they have an advantage when Debt Collectors chase after them?

suburbs are generally a better place to grow up when you're a kid. there's less drugs, gangs, and shit like that.

I really think it depends. My kids and I live in a more rural area, not really considered the suburbs. I really love being where we are, but would also like to be closer to Seattle.

My kids are not obese; but, I don't know if that has anything to do with that fact that we have a big yard to run around in. Alot of parents don't make their kids go outside, but I do.

There aren't many affordable big houses downtown, so if you have a family and want to live in a reasonably priced house, suburb is the way to go. Plus, we don't take kindly to children downtown

My parents moved from NYC to the suburbs after I was born so I can agree with that. I don't think I would've had as good a childhood if we didn't move
