My opinion is that it sucks. Whats the point . There's probably no money involved.
Why change the language when you can just add subtitles. |

Why change the language when you can just add subtitles. the target audience are mostly children...most of those children also belong to the "masses" or the poverty line who dosent doesnt go as much school...and study and understand full sentences in english... also reading subtitle at the same time watching the actions in the screen may be difficult to others...you are kinda using your perception do things at the same time can be hard...while dubbing it, uses your sense of hearing for the sounds and perception in the actions well watching is much smoothly... ABSCBN in my opinion dub animes best...i watched the filipino dub and the subtitled in english for lines comparison and so far they are loyal to the original concept of the script and dosent loose the humor and the use of words ...the other networks in the other hand sounds corny and cheesy... hehehe peace out! |

I've heard NGE in Filipino. It was decent in quality and achieves the point maryakalara is trying to make. Personally, the originals still sound better to the ear, so I prefer subs... unless it's Desert Punk.

Things like this concerning about how we Filipinos, just dub Anime and not making our own Anime doesn't really matter to me.

Yup. But I hate Filipino dubs. The voices sucks cuz most voices sound so childish and it's just not right. |

If it was pointless, why would people spend good money on it? Foreign languages won't appeal to people who don't recognize as much their own spoken language will. Having to read subtitles while watching doesn't appeal much to the casual TV viewer either. A lot of things do get lost in translation -- and localization-- though. Then again, what people don't know can hurt them.

If that happens then everyone will watch NEAR their television sets just to understand and to read the subs. (Which, sometimes subtitles are easily missed. And for what I know not all of us have bigger television sets which makes it harder to read subtitles.) If that happens, we'll taste the gift of radiation somewhere in the future. |
