i totally agree that filipino dubs are just-plain-FUGLEH. but not ALL . when it comes to dubbing ability, GMA network WINS. (ghost firhgter anyone? or slam dunk maybe? XD) don't get me wrong i am filipino too, but i feel so horrible whenever i hear agito's voice in air gear *cries in despair*

just put the damn subtitles in! D:<
kids would learn how to READ english too >:I

i wanted to quote some of the peeps here but i'll make my own statement, though some are rightand some are too emotional. I guess its okay to dub it, it may not sound right to some but that's how FILIPINOs express the art. MAYBE, SOME are just used to the japanese vers with subs but how about the kids who only understands filipino? Isnt it that the purpose of dubbing is for the viewers to understand the film or anime or drama in their own language?think about it. Its not about making their own jokes or own versions of it by using dubbing but i think its important also that they delivery the meaning of the art to the "specific" viewers differenciated by race, language, age etc

Honestly, i don't like the Tagalog versions of some stuff... I dont even watch Filipino shows and i'm a pinay myself. It's just so corny in my opinion... no offensement. Pili lang mga pinapanood ko.

I prefer subs to dubs...

The worst Filipino dub I've heard was Ragnarok I think. I stopped watching right after I heard the female archer speak with Visayan accent. No offense but hello?!?!?! And its so obvious that it was a fake one, the dubber is not a native speaker of the dialect.... I'm not saying that all Filipino dubs are bad... Yu Yu Hakusho I think is great... Same with English, some good some bad but imo generally lame (try ouran high or bleach)...

I love watching anime.. subbed with english is better than listening to tagalog verrsion.. ^_^ but sometimes I still watched tagalog dub.

I concur. It feels more original if I hear the way the anime speak japanese...you can easily get their jokes if you watch through subs rather than dubs.

Well, I never thought that GINTAMA is also good dubbed in tagalog ...just watched it this morning (thank you ABS-CBN) and damned I love it in our native language (but still sub is much better, I just love Hijikata's voice when he is angry).

sounds good though..

but, Filipino dubs are pretty good..
and not all pilipino can understand english..

anime in the philippines are actually meant for kids.
thus, kids has a lower english vocab.
