Why do Christians celebrate Christmas?

As well all know the worshiping of other God is a sin in the eyes of your lord.
It is also a sin to celebrate pagan advents. So my question to Christians is simple enough. Is this celebration worth going to hell over? Or is it that as long as you cherry pick you bible you feel no guilt in celebrating of a pagan God with no fear of your angry war gods wrath?

Ah good old Biblical hypocrisy. Maybe it is their sub-conscious desire to have their cake and eat it too, in other words maybe their brain is saying "Wake up! You believe in an invisible creature that censors your actions and holds back your true desires". I believe that censor is called the super ego , as Freud pointed out long ago, I could be entirely wrong though.

True Christians would know that December 24 (or 25) is not really Jesus' birthday. Geez. Anyway, I celebrate it for the food and gifts.

Yeah. Nothing wrong with a little weed no more harmful than booze , or smoking , heck even Shakespeare was known to do a little hash now and then. And without the mind expanding effects of drugs a lot of art would be pretty dull and boring. I do not do drugs, though I think they should all be legalized if not all than at least cannabis should be.

Yeah, but Freud wasn't an artist, he was a specialist in psychoanalysis. How would you like it if your doctor had to have some weed every hour? It would make you question and wonder what med school he attended and his credentials and such.

I'm just trying to say, I wouldn't want my teacher or some sort of other figure of authority smoking weed frequently or drinking alcohol all the time. A few of my friends smoke, a lot of them drink, Freud was pretty much hooked on the stuff. And I find people like that hard to believe.

Christians are luckily not under strict rules.

So some of us way back in the day took an atheistic holiday and thought, what if we wanted to let Athiests still have a party but one where they get to know Jesus?

So we said, hm, well what if we celebrated Jesus's birthday, that's a pretty big deal.

And so we did.

And that is that. Is there some part of that that bugs you? If so, you are intolerant.

I am sorry, but it's truly that simple. And if you dislike it, then don't celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Valentines Day, or several other festivals and holidays because you can't seem to handle it when a holiday is given purpose by Christians. I mean, how dare we worship Jesus's birth, right? We are just the worst.

Well Freud always new what he was talking about (Most of the time, anyways.) and he has gone down in history as one of the greatest psychologist's of our time, some people can maintain themselves and actually think clearly while on marijuana I have had rather interesting conversations with people while they were intoxicated on the magical plant. It all depends on how mature or educated the person is or how hardened they are to the drug. Also it has been proven in at least 20 international studies that marijuana is not a physically addictive drug.

But you forget, Jesus is God. He is in the Father and the Father in Him. Something beyond human comprehension. Christians celebrate Christmas to focus on the great love God has for everyone. A love so great that He left heaven and became a humble human being born into a poor family. A life that would be lead without any sin, yet would be persecuted and nailed to a cross. The perfect sacrifice to atone for sin and fulfill the Law =) Christmas reminds us God's unfailing and infinite love for us, and to remind us that Jesus was born to die a death that we deserve, yet that it would be done willingly out of love for us.

How dare I celebrate Pagan advents that Christians High jacked? Yes lets not look in the bible, where It points out the cutting down of a tree and then decorating it is a sin! Also No place in the bible it talks about celebrating his birthday. Not a big deal to create your own, but No your celebrating something that has nothing to do with Christianity, than you have the balls to say its a Christian thing. You need to read you bible more young sinner.

Technically a pegan holiday was on December 25 first. But during Constantine and the Roman Empire, he decided to change it from the celebration of the new son to the celebration of Jesus Birth. The Bible does not say Jesus was born on December 25, nor does it make Christmas a holiday. But this being said, it is good to think on what God did for us through the Messiah (Himself) Jesus Christ. Christmas is a holiday instituted by man to remind us of Jesus' birth.
