That is why when she went to the future, she always closes her eyes and counts to 108 steps to make it to the classroom and when she opens her eyes she will see Jay Chou.

A scene I don't understand is when Jay randomly sees the white out etched in real-time, but shouldn't it have been engraved there from the start (assuming it withstood a 20 year non-cleaning period). Is there a logical reason behind this or is this simply the classic gushy JayChou experience?

And since she was "saved" by Jay after he goes back, shouldn't the note left by her in the Secret music sheet not have existed in the first place? As well as his portrait that she drew? I guess the nature of her saving is what I need clarification on, since I don't think they ever stated she "died" per se (by they I mean Jay's father or Rain's mom).

The mom really confuses me in general. "Missing?" This implies Rain was there at some point, or was she speaking metaphorically, knowing in her mind she's dead?

Andd my sister was wondering whether Jay could be seen in the picture by others given the rule of the Secret piece where only the first-seen person can behold the time traveler.

Otherwise, I liked that movie a lot. We need more time traveling Taiwanese cuties, that's for sure.

Because it was only after she hugged Jay Chou and saw Zing Yi's bracelet making her devastated and go back to the past that she started writing those words on the table. The past and future are interconnected. What happens and the changes that occur in the past affect the future. The past and the future have to be in sync. LOLzzz I don't know if you just understood that?

When the dad saw the note left by Rain, take note that Jay Chou still hasn't saved Rain. He was going to that old building. For the portrait part: okay so when Jay and Rain were still going out, Rain was still alive. She has an adult version in fact (Um you can see a short haired woman in the window during the part where Rain invited Jay to the rooftop of her house) That explains why her mother said that Rain was resting and that she quit school a long time ago to Jay. This was the 1st actual decent conversation Jay had with her mother. (Happened during the time Rain decided she wasn't going to see Rain) Then the 2nd confrontation to her mother (they were talking about the portrait), I think Rain was already dead here. Um, you can die from asthma. She said the Rain was missing. Maybe, her mom became mentally ill that she blames herself to what had happened to her daughter or she probably meant that Rain was gone. The inconsistent lines of the mother was due to the past-future being in sync because there were changes undergoing in the past.

For the last part, I think it's up to your own imagination. I didn't find any loopholes in the story except the picture part. All the other scenes were pretty logical to me if you do some thinking. I'm guessing, it's because Jay Chou chose to stay and live in the past. The girl was just like visiting the future, but she returns to her original time.

LOLzzz pretty long explanation. Hope that made sense.

ahhh that's a really good point! the way it's presented, it strongly hints that it's rain. it would be interesting to know what's going through her (adult Rain's) mind.

this requires a nonlinear view of time, though, because Jay distorting the past by not letting the events unfold caused by the Secret Music would completely nullify the storyline altogether (e.g. grandfather paradox)

but thank you for connecting past events that caused present circumstances that I didn't catch the first time. appreciate it!

I kinda don't get the ending.
Jay went back to the past right, but does that mean he can't go back to the future because the old piano was destroyed? So he has to stay in the past forever?

im gonna show you something neat too
i just noticed this. This is when xiaoyu was walking toward jay chou's classroom (counting and not looking at anyone else)

That girl on xiaoyu's side CLEARLY evaded xiaoyu's walking path, meaning that girl could see her! Check it out yo. I think it's a NG/semi-blooper. It wasn't that noticeable so they didnt edit it out

About the cleaner question..
when she walked in the room, the first person she saw was him.
That's why Jay Chou didn't find her, when she went off.

I have one pretty big question. You know, at the ending, XiangLun made it back to see XiaoYu? Apparently he traveled more than twenty years, since XiaoYu did not recognise him, indicating her reached before XiaoYu found the manuscript.

That don't make sense, unless the Secret's magic is fixed between two points in time, and the fixed marker in time only start to move when some one uses it, and gets resetted when another person used it again. (That would be creepy, since if many people had used the manuscript, Jay should see lots of time travellers)

Next, You remember the class photo of XiangLun and XiaoYu? (Low quality made me suspect XiaoYu wasn't Xiaoyu, and the picture is actually Jay Chou's real class photo) Think. At first sight marks one's destiny. How in the world would the rest of the class see him, if the first person XiangLun saw is XiaoYu? Why in the world would he be in a class photo then? XiaoYu explained the reason?

"My boyfriend is invisible to you, but he is there. Reserve a space for him in the picture, KThxBai."?

By right, only XiaoYu should see Xianglun in 20 years ago.
