What do think of KOREAN Mangas?

They are called Korean Manhwa but I do like them. The best part about them is that the girl is usually strong and not weak and annoying.

for shoujo type korean manhwa i think the story is too long and the relationship is so complicated with the third party causing chaos to the main character's relationship (ex: goong, bride of water god)
(owh yeah another complicated story plot is the Flowers of Evil, i still don't get it)

for shounen/seinen type that i'm reading.... i think the story is very good, lots of action
(i've read island and currently reading the breaker.. there's more but i can't remember the title)

and i think most of the korean manhwa that i've read have very nice drawing. their drawing is so detailed and realistic

ive read a few korean mangas n dey seem quite good, i dnt really hav a preference over japanese i dnt think it matters

reply to thread title: manhwa is awesome. just as manga and manhua (chinese comic) are awesome as well.

i first started and only read manga for a long time, and when i began reading manhwa, the artwork really bothered me. for those who have read both manga and manhwa you know what i mean. i'm not saying that alot of manhwa have bad artwork because in fact quite alot of them have some absolutely great character designs and backgrounds in the story. i just happen to pick the wrong manhwa i guess. haha. i tend to judge a book by it's cover T__T. but i should let you all know that even if the artwork isnt to your liking at first, just keep reading because for me i eventually came to care more about the storyline and character developments than the art.

though i must point out some manhwa artwork that i liked:

Lol. That is true for manhwa. For manga it is usual really good plot plus drawings, good plot sucky drawings or just plain boring etc.....

Well, there are some really good manhwa around, and their plots are really original and they don't bore me sometimes like shoujo mangas, which always revolves around the same sort of plot which pisses me off cause i am just wasting my time reading them (but that doesn't apply for all manga of course). If you haven't read one single manhwa in your life, GO READ ONE

Manhwa tend to have better storylines (both action and romance) but I'm sure we all know of the stereotype korean drama.......either way, their characters are fuller and not as 2d as most artists make them (ie. Kitchen Princess).......it's just that they have a very distinct drawing style that tends to get on my nerves.......

I don't mind trying it once in a while though I prefer Japanese manga more. I read Honey Mustard and I thought it was so cute and sweet but too bad I can't find anything after volume 4 ANYWHERE! I think I read somewhere that the story was dropped [at a cliffhanger too >.>] and thus, I'm upset about it. Well, DUH!
I find not only the art different but the whole "aura" about it. It's more realistic and not overly bubbly or predictable...That's how it seemed to me. But then again, I read only 1? ^^"
Give it a shot! It may not strike your heartstrings the same way as manga, but perhaps just as well XP.

if you never read any manhwa b4, you shud give it a try cos u might like it. like i did.
i've read quite alot of manhwa but my favourites are:

goong (was made into a live drama, worth watching)
vanilla ice (lots of chibi drawing, the storyline is so funny )
you're so cool
yaya
bride of the water god
do u want to try (storyline is basically abt hotlooking school jjangs (school delinquents)
chocolat
hissing (the drawing's so cute and the storyline is abt modern day family problems)
we are still
a wolf's attraction (made into a movie, plot was ok)
