this is NOT really considered as "Filipino Anime".

LaMB is an upcoming animated film produced by Animax directed by Ryosuke Tei with the original script written by Carmelo S. J. Juinio, one of the finalists of the 2007 Animax awards Pan-Asia Animation competition(from Philippines). ONLY the idea came from a filipino. filipinos didnt animate this, etc. in other words, the only contribution from a filipino is just the idea.

You're absolutely right! only the idea was filipino but the animation itself is NOT filipino made. Stop making such a big deal out of this.

yeah.. its not a Filipino anime, the concept came from a Filipino.. not the actual anime.

and, for the one who made this thread.. please make sure you know what you're saying so as to not make you look stupid..

i second that.. forgot to say that in my earlier post.. XD

from what i see, it's LaME... everything that Animax has, is lame downright to their music videos (being cut halfway through), interviews with a Lara Croft cosplayer (I mean, wth! It's not anime!), anime advertisements sucks (always giving misleading information) and their dreadful advertisement for LaME. I hope no one touches it, so that they'll stop bringing crap to the tv screen. I won't watch it at all...

i've heard about this anime, but i don't think that it is a filipino anime... it might have been based on a work of a filipino but the anime itself is not made by filipinos...

I'm not sure if you can call it "anime", as it isn't Japanese, even if the style is similar.

Anyways, that's cool, though I doubt I'll watch it.

let me share my opinion..

@the author, please, can you edit the title of your post because it brings huge misunderstandings..thanks

To tell you the truth, I was really happy that a Filipino had his script selected to be animated by Animax and its affiliates..The real deal is that, Carmelo SJ. Juinio is just one of the runner-ups in 2007 Animax Awards Pan-animation competition. His story isn't supposed to be animated since "Takane's bike" written by Hayato Takamaga is the grand prize winning entry. Hayato's work is supposed to be animated by A-1 Pictures. There are almost 9 countries that competed: These include Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, HongKong and India and the rest of Southeast Asia. In the near end of the competition, these are the scripts chosen in the regional level..

Geco Hirasawa, Hound Tooth, Japan
Watanabekouhei Shoukyokusuiki, The Mystical Era - The Azure Dragon of London, Japan
Yasunori Kasuga, Seizure of the Encyclopedia, Japan
Hirokazu Kanata, Jiku-uro, The Time Cutter; Japan
Hayato Takamaga, Takane's Bike, Japan
Mitsuki Kuroe, A Message from Myself in the Past to Myself in the Future, Japan
Won, Jong-Ik, Nuri the Secret Helper, Korea
Alvin Lim Zhi Guang, Guardian: Invader, Malaysia
Kong Khong Chang,, Serial Burglary, Hong Kong
Yu Dong Bing, The Final Dream Match, Taiwan
Carmelo SJ Juinio, Laminated Woman, Philippines
Aravind K. Prakash, Legend of the Scarlet Samurai, India

I also participated in this competition two years ago. That’s why I’m so eager to find out details about the winner. Then I just saw in a commercial in Animax back then, that Laminated Woman has made it to the finals.

(To Filipinos, I just want to ask one thing, why are you so irritated of knowing that a Filipino just made it up to this point..I mean, there are so many countries that competed, just look at those entries from Japan...Of all these entries, why do you think they chose Carmelo's??)

Anyways, I said earlier that his story isn't supposed to be animated, but because the staff behind Animax doesn't want the script to go to waste, they decided to turn it into a movie..This isn't just a light decision, they risked it all. They actually put up a big budget for this, even contacting famous animators from Japan, and also great artists and dubbers. I don’t think they will give this kind of effort if the story sucks. And I don’t think that the script of Carmelo is full of imitation.
This is his summary of his script..

[Laminated Woman

The inhabitants of a harsh desert planet have perfected a system of imprisonment without walls. Called ``Lamination'', this system of virtual slavery ensures that those convicted of serious crimes remain productive, if not free, members of society. The system has made both jails and the death penalty unnecessary in a world where human ingenuity, creativity and labor continue to be precious commodities that cannot be replaced by robots or any form of ``artificial'' intelligence.
Dr. John ``Jack'' Griswold sees his employment in Cerra merely as a means of earning his keep while keeping his mind away from a personal tragedy. Jack has no desire whatsoever to get involved in the planet's curious politics of ``Lamb'' liberation. But a meeting with a laminated person, or ``Lamb'', threatens to peel off the seemingly cold exterior of this man hired to turn a red planet green.

(If you want to check the details, check this website.. http://www.animaxawards.com/ph/info.html )
I just loved the story. Can you imagine a situation where a planet has became so ruined that there is no choice left than to recycle people in hopes of reviving that planet? For me, this is not your typical futuristic anime movie..
The title, “Laminated woman” was changed into “LaMB”, maybe because it focuses on how LaMBs are used in their system.

(would be back to add more)..
