haha thats what i was thinking too~ im like ~ calm down a little~ but he has a point there has been a huge drop in origionality of animes. Of course they are all different in their own ways too.

i am not kidding. have you ever had deja vu when watching an anime? like youve seen it somewhere before? believe me, you HAVE! why? because a lot of animes have a lot of the same themes.

for example: ever heard of an anime where the boy is weak and bullied....then he finds something he can do so good that others end up looking up to him. then he ends up mastering that particular field of whatever hes doing? yeah i can name three animes from the top of my head that have that exact theme

1) Naruto
2) History's strongest disciple kenichi
3)Whistle!

I DARE YOU TO TELL ME THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!

but what gets me most is.....why? why repeat the exact theme over and over again? cant they think up something else? so.....WHAT ANIME THEME IS MOST NOTICABLE TO YOU GUYS?!

This plot is the most common plot worldwide, i've seen this in movies, dramas, animes everywhere. The main idea behind this is that the world supports the underdogs n we all want to see them win!! This will probably be going on forever.

girl can transform into someone with powers, and saves people, all the while using the power of teamwork
1. Sailor Moon
2. Shugo Chara
3. Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne (well . . . except the teamwork part)
4. Tokyo Mew Mew

To become the best _____________
1. Nodame Cantabile
2. Naruto
3. Corda de Oro

Looking for a ceratin object for its power or because its some sort of treasure
1. One Piece
2. Inuyasha

If you look for similarities you'll find them. And themes are basically all alike because they're universal. what makes an anime different is the plot and charecters.

well ofcourse theres bound 2 be cliches. most of em have something in similar but the entire plot wont always be the same. ^_^

thats lyk saying, gintama and rurouni kenshin are kinda the same coz the main chars are both samurai who killed a lot but turned into these martyr-lyk-no-shedding-of-sword samurais.

ideas are the same but plot will always be different.

POKEMON......a kid going around catching lil monsters......mostly cause the show is so long i think that THEY THEMSLEVES played it out..........thats why nobody else is copying there theme.....

but the most noticable theme would be .......shows like the gundam series.......by now most of the gundams and story and stuff seem the same to me......but i still watch it

I like to think that the animated Digimon series was the mature version of Pokemon.

However in the original Manga version of Pokemon it was considered pretty damn mature. It had blood, sexy looking females, story was a little bit darker, Pokemon and/or human dying, and especially none of the cheesy crap that the Anime version had.

omg i think i want to read the manga now

know where to find it

(still likes pokemon...)

I think cliches are apart of having a particular genre. If you said giant fighting robots are cliche wouldn't that make all mecha animes cliche and unoriginal, but if you like the mecha genre then you like a cliche. To a certain extent everyone that craves entertainment, not just anime fans, loves a particular genre that is often nothing more than using an old idea with new characters and a different plot.

If you don't agree with me just watch one show of each genre for the rest of your life and see how things turn out.

As for something original, wouldn't deathnote be an original because I can't even describe what type of anime it is to people. A suspense mystery thingy.

all anime follow the same principle for their genre
