Koreans are making their Mark
Posted 12/29/08
Asians have been trying to make an impact on the American market for quite a while now and they might have finally succeeded. Many Korean stars are beginning to make their debuts and star in major American films.
Rain has already been co-starred in the movie, Speed Racer and is getting ready to release his own movie, Ninja Assassin in March of 2009. Se7en has already held concerts for his debut in the US and is getting ready to release his album. Son Dam Bi is set to star in a BBoy movie with Omarion in 2009. And finally, BoA looks to be the most successful as she climbs the Billboard Chart top 100 as we speak. As of now she is up there with Brittney Spears in Best dancing.
It looks like the Korean wave is coming..What do you all think???

korean wave...hmmm

although i am korean and all, i think thats still far ahead.
all those korean actors/singers you listed did appear in US charts and movies, but
not enough impact or attention to actually start a korean wave or even like an asian wave in hollywood
or in the music industry.

just wait for BIGBANG to come along ><

well, korean wave(esp for dramas) has been slowly going away in many asian countries now.
it shld be high time it reaches the western countries...
but we cant be sure if they can really make it.
for Rain, even after starring in Speed Racer, some americans+media still dont know his name and calls him by his role name in speed racer, and think he's japanese.

1. rain is a big laugh to everyone. his first movie received a lot of negative comments and his crappy engrish doesn't help at all.
2. how many times already se7en cancels his album launch? and the only song we are hearing is 'them girls'. just come back to korea and stop making fun of yourself, okay?
3. son dam bi is likely to be just like her sunbaes. FAIL. the movie that she co-stars is copying jessica alba's 'honey'. unless there's timbaland or michael jackson takes the lead role, this movie is going nowhere.
4. boa is just another korean that likes to daydream. who looks at the dancing chart? and i think, only asian fans are supporting her. no use boa comes to america, but only her asian fans hear her music.

so for now, let's stop daydreaming that any kpop stars will make it big there

BoA actually was on the actual Billboard at #36 or 37...but she is higher on the dance so thats why I mentioned it..

I don't think so.

Oh and about BoA dancing chart thing:
1) nobody give a sh*t about and it is not a success indicator.
2) hikaru who's english album was a Failure and with no promotion, one of her album songs chart NO1 for a long time yet boa charting At 15 with all the massive promotion and money.

Hmm, I dont know about that. But, the recent attempts were a total failure. I dont think America is ready for the korean wave. Not until Big Bang makes a debut. I think Big Bang caters to the western listeners. Im a big big big fan of Western pop/hip hop. Big Bang might just make it to the hollywood scene.

I think Big Bang is capable of making it big in America.

Yes. Maybe not all Korean artists will be welcome in America, but that's life. The music in Asia and America...well, there is a slight of difference. ><

I know, huh? I'll be really really proud of them if they make it big in Hollywood. Their music is so western so it might work.
